‘Spider-Man 4,’ ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ are coming: Here’s everything we know so far

Buckle up for another web-slinging adventure when the films swing into theaters in 2026 and 2027.

Spider-Man fans should better prepare for another round of web-slinging action, as Sony Pictures has finally unveiled the release dates for its two most-anticipated Spidey flicks. We’re talking about Spider-Man 4, which is the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) Spider-Man films, and Beyond the Spider-Verse, the final chapter in the Spider-Verse trilogy.

Of the two films, Spider-Man 4 will swing into theaters earlier on July 31, 2026, while the animated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is set to arrive on June 4, 2027. Both release dates were announced by Sony Pictures on March 31, which was the first day of CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas.

The news has been a long time coming, especially for Spider-Man fans who watched the two flicks’ prequels years back. To recall, it was in 2021 that Sony and Marvel dropped Spider-Man: No Way Home in theaters worldwide. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released in 2023.

So, without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about Spider-Man 4 and Beyond the Spider-Verse before they take you on another swinging-and-gliding adventure into the Spider-Man Universe soon.

Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day

Besides the film’s release date, which comes three months after the showing of Avengers: Doomsday, Sony unveiled the title of its fourth Tom Holland-led flick—Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

According to Screen Rant, Sony played a video during CinemaCon 2025 wherein Holland, who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the MCU, mentioned the name of the upcoming flick and, well, nothing more.

“I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home. So Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start,” said the actor who’s long been known by fans for spoiling things in a charming and innocent way.

While Sony has been keeping much of the movie’s details under wraps, the title alone has already fueled speculations on what fans can expect from the film in two years’ time. For starters, fans of the comic book know—“Brand New Day” is not as pleasing as it sounds. It is the title of the infamous comic book where Peter sacrificed his marriage to Mary Jane so he could save Aunt May.

It happened when May was left critically wounded during an assassination attempt against Peter. He and Mary Jane were then approached by the Demon Lord Mephisto, who promised to save May’s life in exchange for their marriage. After agreeing to Mephisto’s terms, all memories of Peter and MJ’s marriage were erased and the entire Marvel timeline was rebooted. The result was a brand new day.

MJ (Zendaya) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) jump from a construction site in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

But, every Marvel fan also knows—anything is possible in the MCU. Chances are still high that Brand New Day will not follow the comic book to the T. It could be a loose adaptation, just like how No Way Home drew much—but not all—of its elements from the comic book One More DayThe same goes for 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was influenced by elements of Ultimate Spider-Man and Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane.

Not only that, No Way Home has already wrapped up the trilogy, providing Peter/Spider-Man a blank slate for the future. In the 2021 flick, people have already forgotten that Peter is Spider-Man after Doctor Strange cast a spell that effectively erased Peter’s past from their memories. This just goes to show that the possibilities for the upcoming film are endless.

In case you forgot, Holland teased at CinemaCon 2025 that the new film is a “fresh start” for the franchise. This was also hinted at by producer Amy Pascal in an interview with The New York Times in 2021. She said, “At the end of the movie we just made, you see Spider-Man make a momentous decision, one that you have never seen him make before. It’s a sacrifice. And that gives us a lot to work with for the next film.”

Amazing Spider-Man Brand New Day is rumored to be the inspiration for Sony Pictures’ upcoming film.

If anything, Brand New Day could also explore Peter’s decision to go full-on Spider-Man based on Pascal’s interview with Deadline in December 2024. “We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker, and that he was going to focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard,” she said.

While we all have to wait until 2027 to know, what is for sure is that Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton is taking the helm from Jon Watts in directing the film. Zendaya will also be joining Holland in reprising their roles as Peter and MJ in the franchise.

Beyond the Spider-Verse

Fans of Spider-Verse all breathed a big sigh of relief when Sony officially announced that the third in the hit animation trilogy is finally hitting theaters on June 4, 2027. The film was initially set for a March 29, 2024 release but was pushed back in July 2023 due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that year.

Since then, Spider-Verse fans have been eagerly waiting for Sony’s next update, especially because Beyond the Spider-Verse is part 2 of Across the Spider-verse released in 2023. Those who watched the film know—that the “to be continued” text at the end has left us wanting more. And we want it now. Thankfully, Sony put an end to the scare with its announcement at CinemaCon 2025.

Producer Phil Lord and co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson assured fans that the long wait is worth it during Monday’s event. “We needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right,” they said. Lord added, “It’s going to be a massive finale to the trilogy.”

Miles Morales fights with his evil self in the final chapter of the Spider-verse trilogy.

Lord said Beyond the Spider-Verse picks up directly from where Across the Spider-Verse took off. To prove this, the trio treated CineCon 2025 attendees to a first-look at the upcoming film. The footage began with a voiceover from Miles, saying, “You can’t ask me… not to save my father.” The scene is then cut to reveal a burst of trippy sky colors and dialogue from the last movie.

Miles is later seen battling it out with his evil self and walking into a dark tunnel with his friends behind him. Then his line from the last film, “Imma do my own thing,” is heard before the June 4, 2024 release date was revealed. Adding to the thrill and excitement was Lord’s hint that “Gwen and his other friends may or may not be enough to help him save the family that’s been the leading part of the entire system.”

Beyond the Spider-Verse is the epic conclusion to the sought-after franchise, which began with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018, followed by Across the Spider-Verse in 2023. Lord and Chris Miller, who both created the hit trilogy, are returning to write the screenplay.
