Local pizzerias A Mano and Crosta included in 50 Top Pizza World Awards 2025

A Mano rose from 70th in 2024 to 49th in 2025; Crosta went from 12th last year to 28th this year.

A Mano, the Italian restaurant known for its “fresh and faithful” approach to cucina Italiana, has just been named the 49th best pizzeria in the world by the 50 Top Pizza in the World Awards 2025 held in Naples, Italy.

Crosta Pizzeria, meanwhile, slipped from 12th in 2024 to 28th in 2025.

While pizza is at its core, A Mano has proven its kitchen to be equally adept at pasta. In 2024, the restaurant earned the Pastificio di Martino Award (“Best Pasta Proposal”), a recognition reserved for restaurants that make pasta “to perfection,” according to 50 Top Pizza co-director Albert Sapere. The same year, it also won the award in the Asia-Pacific category, further underscoring its reputation as a standard-bearer for Italian cuisine in the region.

In 2025, the accolades continued: A Mano jumped to No. 7 in the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific rankings, from No. 12 the year before.

For Amado Forés, founder of A Mano and CEO of AF Hospitality, the latest recognition is both a triumph and a challenge. “It’s an immense honor for us to be part of 50 Top Pizza. Rising from the 70th to the 49th spot is a feat I attribute to our hardworking team—expertly made by Filipino hands, consistently producing world-class quality—and it motivates us to keep innovating while staying true to serving fresh and faithful Italian,” says Amado Forés, founder of A Mano and CEO of AF Hospitality.

Since opening in 2019, A Mano has built its reputation on simplicity and quality: dough fermented just long enough for depth of flavor, San Marzano tomatoes, creamy fior di latte, and toppings that let ingredients speak for themselves. The name itself—“a mano,” or “by hand”—reflects the restaurant’s ethos: honest food, crafted with care.

The win is also a continuation of a family legacy. AF Hospitality now carries on the work of the late Chef Margarita Forés, Amado’s mother, who blazed a trail for authentic Italian dining in the Philippines with her own celebrated restaurants.

Crosta, according to the 50 Top Pizza website, “is a meeting of three very different sensibilities that create a one-of-a-kind place.” Entrepreneurs Ingga S. Cabangon Chua, who is passionate about dough, and Thomas Woudwyk, who is a connoisseur and wine enthusiast, got together with chef and pizza maker Yuichi Ito to create Crosta.

“The doughs are of different styles and all of excellent quality. The toppings range from simple and traditional to more complex ones. A must-try is the round pizza with salami, truly balanced and well-made. For dessert lovers, you can finish with a good gelato.”

The 50 Top Pizza guide is widely considered the Michelin of pizza. Compiled by a global panel of critics, chefs, and industry insiders, the annual rankings highlight craftsmanship, innovation, and consistency across pizzerias worldwide. To be listed among the top 50 is to join a hall of fame that includes storied institutions in Naples and emerging stars in Asia and the Americas.
