At Newport World Resorts, clubbing is a day and night affair.
Plush chairs, circular seating, lanterns and wooden lattice on the ceiling. It’s a warm space for dining, and as the evening slides closer to midnight, at 10 pm, it metamorphoses into a club with pumping music and lights.
Newport World Resorts’ newest attraction is Kao Manila Day and Night Club, giving patrons a gastronomic adventure courtesy of Taiwanese executive chef Rachel Kao’s Japanese-Chinese fusion menu, and the superclub experience at night.
Kao Manila is part of the group that owns and operates the nightspots House Manila, Platform and Limitless Barcade in Newport World Resorts; Palladium in New World Hotel Makati and the soon to open Qu in Poblacion.
Vanessa Rose S. Francisco, Kao managing partner, says, “Kao Manila is geared toward professionals with spending power, not so much Gen Z, because the price points tend to be a bit higher. Weekdays, we open and close earlier for the working set and we have a retro night on Thursdays. The weekend is more for clubbing.”
The space turns into a club from 10 pm to 1 am, and till 4 am on weekends. International DJs, live performances and themed events elevate the night club experience and create unforgettable parties.
If you’re not into clubbing, Kao Manila will hook you through its food. Chef Rachel Kao’s exquisite creations are delightful. Her dimsum basket comes with edible gold leaf while the hot prawn salad is a crispy play on tiger shrimp and creamy Japanese mayo; and the oysters come fresh or fried. All the appetizers go well with the Kao’s drinks like the refreshing gin and tonic with rosemary, amaretto sour and cosmopolitan.
For entrees, you can choose from the salt and pepper grouper, coco chicken, sweet and sour pork. Her most outstanding dish, however, is the leek-smothered chicken — almost like Singapore’s Hainanese chicken, but you don’t need any of the dipping sauces because it’s so flavorful. And even if you’re not a rice eater, the chef’s salmon fried rice will convert you even for just that meal because it’s so good.
Newport World Resorts’ location — just off NAIAX and across Terminal 3 — makes it a good place to hang out. Its various restaurants, bars and coffee shops, retail stores, casinos, and hotels let you unwind after a long day at work or escape the rush-hour traffic if you’re going home to the south.
Kao Day and Night Club is located at the 2F Newport Mall. For inquiries and table reservation contact +639171224210 or kaonightclub@gmail.com.
