Oktoberfest at Solaire is back—and it’s much bigger this year

If you’ve always wanted to experience authentic Oktoberfest without flying to Munich, this is the closest.

Solaire Resort Entertainment City, in partnership with German Club Manila, is bringing back the country’s biggest Bavarian beer fest this October. The Solaire Grand Ballroom will transform into a massive indoor Biergarten, complete with long wooden tables, live oompah music, and enough beer to last three nights of dancing, feasting, and, yes, singing.

Hofbräu is the official beer for the Oktoberfest

It’s going to be a full experience. About 25,000 liters of Hofbräu beer, flown in from Munich, will be served by German hosts and waitstaff. The Bavarian Sound Express, an 11-piece band from Munich, is back to lead the party with folk tunes, polkas, and sing-alongs.

But wait, what exactly is Oktoberfest?

It’s one of the world’s most famous beer festivals that started in Munich in 1810. What began as a royal wedding celebration turned into a centuries-long tradition of tapping beer kegs, wearing dirndls (a traditional Alpine dress worn by women) and lederhosen (leather trousers), and bonding over food and music. Today, it’s celebrated globally and here in Manila, the German Club has been hosting it since 1982.

Food, of course, plays a starring role

Each table will be served family-style with Bavarian staples like the Brotkorb (German bread basket), Laugenbrezel (pretzels), and cold cuts with cheese. Guests can expect generous servings of Munich-style sausage salads, potato salad, smoked salmon, schnitzels, meatloaf, rotisserie chicken, and crispy pork knuckles.

For mains, there’s the Wiesn platte (a Bavarian meat platter), Käse Spätzle (cheesy egg noodles), and Rindsgulasch (beef goulash with dumplings). Dessert ends the feast with apple strudel, Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes), and classic black forest cake.
