Starbucks Philippines opens its first community store

Proceeds of the store’s sales will support youth education programs.

Starbucks Philippines strengthens its commitment to supporting youth education with the launch of its first community store in the country.

Located at Abad Santos, Tondo, Manila, the Starbucks Community Store will allocate proceeds to scholarships and after-school learning programs through their partner NGOs, Young Focus (which is also the organization that Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray supports) and AHA! Learning Center.

The store features a vibrant spread of tropical flora, coffee plants, and colorful birds, painted by visual artist and environmental advocate Anina Rubio. According to the global coffee chain’s website, this initiative began in 2015 in an effort to “build more equitable, resilient and sustainable communities around the world.”

The store concepts create environments where specific communities are engaged, represented, and served according to their needs.

For instance, there are Signing Stores Washington D.C., Guangzhou, and Jakarta, dedicated to empowering and representing the deaf and hearing-impaired community; a community store in Gallup, New Mexico dedicated to the Navajo nation; and Military Family Stores for service members, veterans, and their respective families.

In their first community store, Starbucks Philippines invites you to enjoy your favorite drink while shaping a promising tomorrow, one empowered mind at a time.

The Starbucks Community Store is located at 1601 J. Abad Santos Ave. Cor, 359 Bambang ST, Tondo, Manila, 1012 Metro Manila.
