Inside Montblanc’s storybook holiday world

The campaign is set in the fictional Montblanc Observatory High-Mountain Library from Wes Anderson’s ‘Let’s Write’ short film.

There is something magical about the holidays that makes even the smallest rituals feel magical—the scratch of a fountain pen on crisp paper, the rustle of wrapping paper, the quiet satisfaction of choosing a gift that says I know you.

Montblanc leans into that sense of intimacy and wonder with its Happy Holidays 2025 campaign, a celebration of writing, travel, and the connections that outlast every season.

First imagined in Wes Anderson’s short film Let’s Write, the setting returns—quirky, symmetrical, bathed in jewel-toned glow—now captured through the lens of photographer Charlie Gray. Rupert Friend, Joey King, Daniel Brühl, Esther McGregor, and Waris Ahluwalia reunite with Montblanc global ambassadors Xin Zhilei and Jing Boran, slipping into scenes that feel whimsical and nostalgic.

Surrounded by ornaments that twinkle, the cast brings warmth to a space built for stories. Each frame feels like a postcard from a place where time slows down, encouraging us to savor quiet rituals and the joy of choosing gifts meant to be kept close.

Holiday capsule collection

Montblanc’s Happy Holidays capsule this year is a love letter to the maison’s twin passions: writing and travel. At the heart of the collection is a hand-drawn illustration unearthed from the Montblanc archives, reimagined for today but still delightfully old-world.

The artwork—embroidered onto tote bags, crossbody silhouettes, and clutches—depicts a travelling couple at the foot of Mont Blanc, surrounded by vintage planes, trains, and letters taking flight. It’s charming without being sentimental, a reminder of the days when correspondence was an adventure in itself.

The capsule features a tote, a mini crossbody bag, and a clutch crafted in embroidered ivory canvas with black leather detailing. The seasonal collection also has an #MY4810 trolley in the cabin size, as well as a pen pouch and notebook in printed sartorial leather.

Montblanc’s leather pieces this season lean into earth tones, supple textures, and quiet luxury. Each item reveals subtle nods to the maison’s writing heritage—fountain-pen-nib stitching, envelope silhouettes, and lock-and-key closures that echo old-world stationery.

Crafted in supple grain leather in an earthy khaki shade, the Document Case echoes the details of a fountain pen nib through its stitching, zip pullers, and handle detailing. With top handles and a detachable shoulder strap, it offers a blend of practicality and sartorial refinement.

The Montblanc Companion Backpack in khaki-colored grain leather makes for a sleek daily companion with its thoughtfully arranged external zipped pockets for effortless organization.

Accented with Meisterstück calfskin leather detailing, the clutch can also be worn by a wrist strap, while an open back pocket offers convenient access to essentials.

Completing the leather goods assortment, the Montblanc Companion Crossbody Bag provides lightweight versatility in khaki-colored grain leather, with nib-shaped side cutouts showcasing a subtle signature of  Montblanc’s design language.

No Montblanc holiday offering is complete without its most iconic symbol: the Meisterstück. The Meisterstück gold-coated 149 fountain pen, introduced in 1924 and revered ever since, appears in this year’s campaign as a reminder of the power of handwriting—its precision, its permanence, its intimacy.

With its Au 750/18K gold nib, black precious resin, and classic silhouette, it remains a gift that feels like a personal heirloom from day one. Paired with the envelope-inspired Sartorial pen pouch, it becomes a timeless companion for those who still believe in the romance of ink on paper.
