Labubu is now literally on luxe leather bags, thanks to Kasing Lung’s collaboration with Moynat

The luxe Labubu-fied bags are set to drop in Shanghai on October 11 to mark the beloved character’s 10th birthday.

In 2024, Labubu dolls took over the designer bags of celebrities and anybody who was anybody, as big fluffy keychains. Fast forward to October 2025, the mischievous-looking creature is no longer just dangling on straps or zipper pull tabs as an accessory. It is now the main character of some of the world’s most coveted bags—those by Moynat specifically.

Labubu is bringing playfulness and wit to Moynat through a collaborative collection between “The Monster” creator, Kasing Lung, and the French luxury bag maker that is set to roll out in October. And although the project is completely unexpected, especially for Labubu fans, it is not a bolt from the blue. The Moynat Kasing Lung collection is set to kick off the festivities for Labubu and The Monsters gang’s 10th birthday.

Lung created Labubu as a playful, elf-like character in his picture book series The Monsters in 2015. A series of figures from the title was later released by How2work and among them, it is the rabbit-eared Labubu that became the ultimate superstar. In 2019, How2work and Pop Mart teamed up to produce The Monsters’ first blind box vinyl figures. Four years later, in 2023, the duo debuted The Monsters plush dolls, with Labubu still taking much of the spotlight. It got its big break in 2024, when Blackpink star Lisa posted an Instagram Story with her Labubu bag charm and large plush figure that led to its massive popularity and buying frenzy.

For Lung’s collaboration with Moynat, the artist selected artworks featuring his most beloved characters— Labubu, Zimomo and King Mon—to jazz up the French label’s signature M Canvas. The collection includes totes bag available in PM, MM, and GM sizes, Hobo bag, Mini 48h and the “very exclusive” Mignon bags. The collection extends to cardholders, passport covers, and bag charms.

In an interview with WWD, Lung said that he receives a myriad of fan mails requesting him to autograph his plus charms and vinyl figurines. Many are also asking the artist, who was born in Hong Kong and is now based in Belgium, when he might do a collaboration with a luxury brand.

He finally gave his coveted “yes” to Moynat, after chancing upon its capsule collection with renowned Japanese graphic designer Kazumasa Nagai at the Dover Street Market in Tokyo. “The reason I accepted [to do the Moynat collaboration] is because they are making such high-quality products, made by hand like my paintings. I think it’s very matching,” he told the outlet.

Besides the chance to get your hands on this collection, this is the first time Lung’s artwork is appearing on leather goods. And the artist admitted that never in his life did he imagine collaborating with a top luxury house.

“I love storytelling,” he said. “The ‘Monsters’ series is storytelling. My art is storytelling, the project with Moynat is storytelling. All my picture books and figurines are storytelling.”

To get Labubu’s party started, Moynat announced the collection through a campaign featuring actress Michelle Yeoh and actor Tony Leung, alongside fashion editor Carine Roitfeld, and Danseur étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet, Guillaume Diop.

The first chapter of the Moynat Kasing Lung collection will roll out in Shanghai on October 11, to be followed by Moynat boutiques in select cities in the coming months.
