Sari Lazaro’s latest summer drop is a joyful, tropical ode to being Filipino

These clothes feel soft and strong at the same time. Like wearing joy. Like being seen.

Walk into Sari Lazaro’s new pop-up at Power Plant Mall and the first thing you’ll notice is the color. Bold reds. Deep blues. Bright yellows. It looks—and feels—like summer.

Her new collection is full of life. But not in a loud or fussy way. The clothes are light, easy, and full of movement. Like a breeze through your window. Like a walk in the sun. “The heart and soul of this collection is the Filipino people,” Sari says. “You know how they’re always very vibrant and happy despite so many of the circumstances they go through? When they go through hardship, they’re still generally happy. So as you can see, it’s like a summer, tropical, happy vibe. That’s what I decided to do for this collection.”

The pieces reflect that spirit. A-line dresses with subtle volume. Wide-leg pants that float. Tops that work for both slow mornings and last-minute dinners. The collection leans tropical but stays clean. It’s designed for women who want ease without losing edge. Some pieces even feature woven fabrics a nod that Sari carries through every collection. “To me, these textiles represent not just art, but a way of life and a deep part of our culture,” she says. “Something we as Filipinos can be incredibly proud of.”

The result is subtle, but the pride is there. These clothes feel soft and strong at the same time. Like wearing joy. Like being seen. A few pieces from her Artefino 2025 collection are still on the rack, mostly broken sizes tucked in the back but the focus is this new drop. And it feels clear. Confident. Filipino.

Sari studied fashion at Marangoni before coming home to build her own atelier. She started with bespoke gowns, then moved into ready-to-wear after falling in love with local textiles. Her work has shown in Doha and Paris, always with Filipino fabrics at the core. She believes Filipino designers deserve a bigger space on the global fashion stage. Her work reflects that. It’s made for women who want quality, care, and something that feels personal. Her designs have been worn by Heart Evangelista, Julia Barretto, Sarah Lahbati among others.

Still, there’s one woman Sari dreams of dressing: Sheikha Moza of Qatar. “I really like Sheikha Moza. ’Cause she’s a very powerful woman, and yet she’s very regal. Have you seen her, how she dresses? Her outfits are so chic!”

Sari Lazaro’s new summer collection is available all April at her pop-up on the R2 Level of Power Plant Mall, Makati.
