Anne Curtis shares her not-so-secret tricks to making a house feel like home

The multi-hyphenate actress and mom opened up about how she makes her home warm, practical, and inviting.

Anne Curtis has long been one of the country’s most recognizable faces, from acting and hosting to brand endorsements that put her on our screens and magazine covers. But away from the spotlight, we also know her as a mom. On Instagram, we see snapshots of her life with Dahlia, sometimes at home, sometimes in captured family moments that feel a world apart from the glitz of showbiz.

At Anko’s Interior Design Masterclass held in its TriNoma store, Anne gave a fuller picture of this side of her life. She shared how she styles her own space, the small habits that make parenting life easier, and why she gravitates toward pieces that are both practical and inviting. She was joined by Business Manager for Home Sarah Dummett and Anko Philippines Country Manager Rachel Turner. Together they walked us through ideas we can incorporate in our own homes.

Anko is an Australian brand that’s become popular in the Philippines since it opened its first store in 2024. It’s known for everyday home pieces that are both practical and affordable, all designed by its team in Melbourne. In March 2025, the brand named Anne Curtis as its first ambassador in the country.

Here are some of the tips we picked up from the masterclass with Anne:

Start with a neutral base

“Start with a base to be able to play around, and transform a room by throwing in some pops of color accents like fuchsia, lilac, or sage,” Sarah shared.

Anne explained how she does this in her own home: “I’ll throw a neutral blanket over the couch, add a few patterned cushions for some fun, and bring in timber accents for warmth.”

Play with shapes

The collection includes mirrors, bedheads, and furniture in playful, eclectic forms. Sarah noted that wavy shapes and curved silhouettes are part of current interior trends.

Anne also likes using mirrors to do this at home. “I love adding some elements of eclectic shapes, and I do it with mirrors. Of course, it is always smart to integrate stylish yet functional furniture pieces in your space,” she said.

Add sage green

Sarah pointed out that sage is one of the trend colors right now. A neutral base makes it easier to bring in this shade.

For Anne, the dining table is the perfect place to try it. “The white tablecloth paired with the sage-striped table runner is definitely one of my must-haves,” she said. “For us Filipinos, the best bonding moments happen over food, and now as a mom, those moments feel even more special. Creating a warm, inviting dining atmosphere is a must, and this combo instantly elevates the table with its simple design and calming colors.”

Mix textures

Sarah highlighted how layering materials can make a space feel more dynamic. “Throws, cushions, and rugs add depth and comfort,” she said, adding that plush teddy and fabrics are paired with natural finishes like wood in the collection.

Anne, for her part, looks for pieces that are family-friendly. “I also think about how pieces can be practical for a child-friendly home, like using something she can snuggle into or sturdy furniture that can handle playtime,” she remarked.

Choose versatile furniture

Rachel emphasized that the Home Living Collection was designed for Filipino lifestyles: “It matches the Filipino lifestyle by reflecting how people live and celebrate at home—whether it’s weekend family lunches, hosting friends, or making the most of smaller spaces. The collection offers versatile, durable, and easy-to-style pieces that adapt to different spaces and occasions, all without compromising on design or affordability.”

Anne also shared her pick for everyday essentials. “Another favorite of mine is a laundry basket. Because let’s be real, laundry is a big part of mom life! I love that it keeps even the most mundane chores looking stylish, and it comes in colors and sizes that fit right into any space.”

“Now that I’m a mom, I’ve also learned to appreciate pieces that are both beautiful and functional for family living, something that feels cozy and inviting for us at home, but also looks great when we have visitors.”

A holiday-ready collection

Rachel pointed out that the new range was designed with gatherings in mind. She explained, “We’ve introduced more versatile furniture, updated decor, bold and playful accents to give customers even more ways to style their homes. The goal is to keep offering options that are stylish, comfortable, and functional, perfect for everything from daily living to special celebrations.”

And with the -ber months already here, the collection feels just right on time. Small updates like new linens, accents, a pop of color in the living room, or a few scented pieces around the house, can instantly make a space more inviting. And even if you’re not the type to obsess over decorating, these pieces also make easy, thoughtful gifts for friends and family during the holidays.

And when The POST asked what she might create if she were given full creative control for an exclusive Anne Curtis x Anko line, her answer was quick: bed sheets, something for kids, homeware, and scents. Nothing confirmed yet—but it’s something to look forward to.

The new lifestyle.
