The Peninsula Manila turns pink for breast cancer awareness

A portion of the proceeds from the hotel’s Pink Afternoon Tea and Pink Staycation will benefit Philippine Foundation for Breast Care.

The Peninsula Manila is embarking on a campaign to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer until Oct 15.

Beginning with the lighting of the grand fountain that has turned the landmark icon at the junction of Ayala and Makati Avenues into a shining pink beacon of hope, other initiatives include a pink-themed afternoon tea and a Pink Staycation room package where a portion of the proceeds will benefit the advocacies of the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc.

The Philippine Society of Medical Oncology reports that the Philippines is at the center of the battle against breast cancer. The Philippines has the highest incidence rate in Asia and is among the top 10 countries with the most cases of breast cancer. The disease is so common that one in every 13 Filipino women is expected to develop breast cancer in her lifetime.

The Peninsula in Pink Afternoon Tea is at P2,890 per person for the three-tiered set with teas of your choice; and P4,890 for the three-tiered set with two flutes of Champagne.

It is for this very reason that The Peninsula Manila has chosen to partner with the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Inc. It is a long-term partnership that has resulted in the expansion of Quezon City’s East Avenue Medical Center’s Breast Care Center Annex that is run by the foundation.

Prior to the hotel’s involvement, the foundation’s volunteer team would assist 50 patients daily, most of whom were in need of chemotherapy treatment in a space that could barely accommodate 20 people. They also only had two LaZ Boys to sit on and a few plastic chairs.

With the assistance of The Peninsula Manila, the annex was expanded and the facilities improved and a total of 20 new chemotherapy infusion chairs were purchased, with the assistance of Estée Lauder Companies and Pink for Life.

Room rates for the Pink Staycation special package start at P 15,100 for a Deluxe Room.
