The world’s best airports for 2023 will make you want to travel more

If you’ve been to Singapore’s Changi Airport, you’ve been to Skytrax’s No. 1 Airport for 2023. Here’s the list.

Just a few days ago at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam, Singapore’s Changi Airport reclaimed the top spot at Skytrax’s World Airport Awards, replacing Doha’s Hamad International Airport and garnering its 12th best airport accolade.

Tokyo International Airport, Incheon International Airport, and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport rounded up the top five. These airports—tourist destinations in their own right—bested over 550 others worldwide, voted by passengers as the best in customer service and facilities.

It’s no surprise that Changi Airport also took home the World’s Best Airport Dining and World’s Best Airport Leisure Amenities awards, thanks to the airport’s astounding mall complex, waterfalls, and gardens, among other sights to see. Crowne Plaza Changi Airport was also recognized as the World’s Best Airport Hotel for the eighth consecutive time.

On the other hand, 2021 and 2022 best airport Hamad International Airport took home World’s Best Airport Shopping, Best Airport in the Middle East, and Cleanest Airport in the Middle East. In terms of immigration and airport staff service, fourth-ranked Incheon Airport at Seoul reigned supreme.

In other categories, Zurich Airport was recognized for its top-notch security, while Bahrain International Airport was lauded for the best airport baggage delivery. Shenzhen’s Bao’an International Airport is 2023’s most improved airport, while Terminal B of LaGuardia Airport is the best new airport terminal for this year.

These airports are making a case for traveling just for the sake of enjoying the service and amenities of these global hubs, especially for us Filipinos who—in a comically depressing way—are used to the circus show that is the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, which didn’t even make it to the top 100 worldwide

Just think of these globally renowned airports as the shining light at the end of the tunnel if the thought of our immigration lines, among other inconveniences, exasperate you every time you travel abroad.
