One thing to look forward to: Squid Game’s filming locations—plus you can stream the final season with your PLDT Home Fiber Netflix 1599. Now that’s binge-worthy summer travel inspo!
When one thinks of the perfect holiday in Seoul, most people would probably think of a scenic walk through streets lined with cherry blossoms in spring or golden leaves during the fall season. Or making snow angels in a ski resort in winter. In fact, summer might not be the first season that comes to mind—but it should be!

Summer in Seoul offers a different kind of charm. Hot and humid, yes, but full of vibrance—think picnic spreads under sun-drenched greenery awaiting the setting sun at eight in the evening; pretty, aesthetic cafes filled with people trying to cool down with a glass of iced Americano or Einspanner; children playing in fountain parks all soaking wet and laughing; or water sports by the Han River. Seoul in summer is full of surprises.
Here are six sizzling ways to make the most of it.
1. Make a splash at Han River Parks

Han River is a popular spot for both locals and tourists for picnics, outdoor performances, and nature and sunset viewing. But aside from enjoying a bowl of freshly cooked ramyeon from a nearby convenience store or riding two-person bicycles, summer offers an exclusive experience you won’t get in any other season.
Summer unlocks a range of water sports like windsurfing, kayaking, wakeboarding, and jetskiing in Han River Parks which will thrill adrenaline junkies seeking fun and excitement.
Prefer to chill? Han River Park’s swimming pools and water playgrounds are also currently in operation. Head to Jamsil, Ttukseom, and Yeouido Han River Parks for the best water fun experience.
2. Get artsy at Ground Seesaw

Locals love Ground Seesaw for its seasonal exhibitions that feature a myriad of artists from all over the world. They have several locations around Seoul with different simultaneous events, so you can go to one or all (if you’re up for some art reveling).
The Werner Bronkhorst exhibit in their Seochon branch brings in the ultimate summer vibe—with bright splashes of color and a pool-themed setup on the topmost floor. Pro tip: visit on weekdays to skip the lines and cool off with a glass of drink in one of the many cafes around the area.

3. Dance it out at music festivals

There’s the annual Pentaport Rock Festival, with the best in rock music from all over the world, like Asian Kung-fu Generation, HYUKOH x Sunset Rollercoaster, and Deafheaven. For those who love K-indie, Soundberry Festa and Mega Field Music Festival have the likes of Thornapple, The Poles, N. Flying, Owalloil, ONEWE, Nerd Connection, and Yudabin Band in their lineup.
If you’re more into EDM, don’t miss S2O Korea—one of South Korea’s best water EDM festivals. Held at Seoulland, party with the best electronic music with the backdrop of a theme park. Now, that’s dreamy!
4. Read under the sun at Seoul Outdoor Library

Love quiet moments? The Seoul Metropolitan Government has reopened the Seoul Outdoor Library, where you can just sit all day and grab a book among their selections that interest you. The library is located in Seoul Plaza, Gwanghwamun Plaza, and along Cheonggyecheon Stream, so you may simply find your best spot and read the day away.
On weekends, enjoy pop-up events like outdoor movie screenings and live performances for free.
5. Pop-up hopping in Seongsu-dong

Seongsu-dong is the place to be! Aside from shopping for both high-end and vintage stuff and visiting cute cafes and restaurants, locals troop over here to go pop-up hopping—where different local and international brands set up unique, experiential spaces to introduce their offerings. From beauty brands to food and beverage, pop-up hopping is one of the one-of-a-kind experiences you’ll only have here.
Just recently, the sensational Squid Game: The Experience pop-up completed its run, where “players” go on a 90-minute adventure inspired by the actual games from the drama—from the thrilling tug-of-war to the iconic “Round and Round.”
Just in time for the release of the third season, PLDT Home flew 10 lucky subscribers to South Korea during the show’s premiere. The telco provider especially created a promo for Fiber Netflix applicants, touring them in Seoul, including a stop at The Experience. The trip was a first for PLDT Home with global streaming leader Netflix, which promises more unlimited entertainment through fun, immersive gimmicks and experiences for its subscribers.

Remember when Gong Yoo’s character was finally discovered in a train station playing Ddakju with eventual Player 333 (played by Im Si-wan)? Yup, that’s Jonggak Station. Get out of the station and walk a few meters, and you’ll find Tapgol Park—the location where the salesman stamping on the bread scene was shot. Oh, and in nearby Ikseondong, try to track down the arcade that’s also part of the show. Happy hunting!
