The Manila International Book Fair is almost upon us, and we’re getting more exciting updates as mid-September draws near. Happening from September 14 to 17 at the SMX Convention Center, the event is shaping up to be another landmark event for bookworms and publishers alike.

Here are a few exciting updates that we’ve gathered about the fair:

Pia Wurtzbach debuts as an author

From charming the world—the universe, rather—as Miss Universe 2015 and building a career built not only on glamor, but also on advocacy, Pia Wurtzbach is set to launch her first novel, Queen of the Universe.

To celebrate her writerly debut, Pia will hold a meet-and-greet on the main stage of MIBF 2023 on September 14, 2023 at 6:30PM. Pre-order links may be accessed via the link in Pia’s official Instagram bio.

More exhibitors and huge crowds

The MIBF has hosted over 200 local and international exhibitors annually, all in order to accommodate the 160,000-strong crowd that flocks the fair. This year promises to be another jam-packed gathering, complete with big names in publishing and up-and-coming presses, authors, and artists.

Check out the complete list of exhibitors via this link.

Exciting panel discussions

More than being a huge marketplace for books, the MIBF is also an avenue for writers, publishers, and other personalities in the industry to share key learnings and insights. One panel discussion to look forward to features four homegrown Filipino authors who have been published by major US publishers—Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Macmillan—despite being based in the Philippines.

Catch “Getting the Dream: How these homegrown Filipino authors got published by the largest US publishers” on September 16, 2023, 11:30am to 12:30pm, at the MIBF main stage. For a complete list of the schedule, check out this link.
