Young Won Asian Grill brings together the best of Asian cuisine for Gen Z, millennials

The new unlimited grill and hotpot at SM by the Bay offers Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Korean culinary traditions.

The restaurateurs behind Red Crab, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse and other upscale culinary settings are introducing a new concept, Young Won Asian Grill, to the “young ones” or the Gen Z.

During the grand opening, managing partner Raymond Magdaluyo said, “Because of our group’s experience in running steakhouses, we figured that we wanted to open an Asian barbecue concept that is different.”

Young Won Asian Grill offers premium steak and grill & hotpot sets that deliver exquisite taste and quality.

The restaurant’s concept, “Asian All in with a Twist,” blends Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Chinese flavors, presenting the best of these rich culinary traditions while introducing novel, exciting elements that resonate with younger generations.

Magdaluyo, who has two teenagers, said they wanted to develop a concept meant for Gen Z and millennial families.

As Gen Z’s passion for travelling usually comes with their interest in trying out different cuisines, they can satisfy their cravings with Young Won Asian Grill’s unlimited grill and hotpot menu which offers 11 kinds of grade-A meats (five of which are beef/steak options), six kinds of broths (kimchi, miso nabe, mushroom collagen, mala, Thai suki, and Thai yentafo), as well as various side dishes or “bites.”

Young Won Asian Grill’s unlimited grill and hotpot menu boasts 11 kinds of grade-A meats and six kinds of broths.

“During the pandemic, we realized that more and more people are eating steaks. I guess it’s because of the rising income. And you know, a steak is a steak. Barbecue is barbecue,” Magdaluyo added.

The typical Gen Z dining experience gets even better with the restaurant’s signature cocktail drink, Jade Dragon, which is an original mix by managing partner Leina Bolinas herself. The sweet, fruity drink can be deceiving (described as ‘traydor’ or betrayer in the typical Filipino drinking scene) as it’s a blend of melon liqueur, soju, and sour mix, poured into a quirky cup that glows when filled.

Young Won Asian Grill also offers side dishes or what they call “bites,” such as Kimchi Gyoza, Kpop Chicken Tenders and Thai Pork Barbeque Skewers.

Aside from the culinary experience, Gen Z can enjoy a vibrant, inclusive space with its daily live performances, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. It’s also open for private events and can seat up to 140 to 160 guests.

The unlimited menu costs Php 899 per person for Tier 1 and P1,199 for Tier 2. The latter includes premium items like steak, shrimp, and lobster. Both packages come with solo hotpot options.

Young Won Asian Grill is open from Monday to Thursday (11:00 AM-11:00 PM), and from Friday to Sunday (11 am-12 midnight).
