The Japanese beauty giant studied how to revive cells in upgrading its most premium age-defying line, Future Solution LX.
Let’s face it. The first place that visibly experiences aging is our skin—it’s there, front and center to reveal to everyone how old we really are (though we probably don’t want to).
It begins as early as 25 years old, with wrinkles forming around our face, sagging, discoloration, and dryness in the coming years. It is caused not only by our lifestyle habits but, apparently, by genetics.
“If your parents or grandparents have smooth, youthful skin well into their later years, chances are you’ve hit the genetic jackpot,” dermatologist Karen Gait of Freyja Medical in Wales explained. “Genes determine our skin type, how much collagen we produce, and even how quickly we might develop wrinkles or age spots.”
While genes only make up 10 percent of skin aging, according to Dr. Jennifer Linder of Linder Dermatology in Scottsdale, they still play an important role in the process. It’s one that we, or even science, can’t rewrite.

When it comes to skincare products, luxury skincare brand Shiseido recently launched a new anti-aging line, dubbed “Future Solution LX,” that particularly targets the genes.
Shiseido unveiled its new Future Solution LX lineup on Friday, Oct. 4, in an event held at Mitsukoshi Mall in Taguig, which was attended by The POST and other media outlets.
The set comprises a cleansing foam, serums, creams, and a cushion foundation. It’s the latest addition to the brand’s anti-aging lines, including the Shiseido Benefiance and Bio-performance. What sets the Future Solution LX apart is that it is designed to address the effect of genes on skin aging.
Sadie Hwang, marketing manager of Shiseido Philippines, explained to The POST: “What makes Future Solution LX different from our other age-defying products is its formulation. Each of our products has a different science behind it. But this one, the Future Solution LX, really targets the genes. It’s basically the idea behind the LonGenevity Complex which is a patented technology of Shiseido. It targets two genes in the cells to continuously renew themselves and help make the skin look and feel young.”
Shiseido’s LonGenevity Complex is powered by enhanced Enmei Herb, Vitamin C, Green Tea, and a propriety amino acid derivative called “Skingenecell 1P” that all together improves the skin’s barrier function and makes the skin brighter, plumper, and smoother.
Touted as the number one premium skincare brand in the Philippines, Shiseido prides itself on how its products are meticulously and extensively developed. “The research starts in our labs in Japan, where our scientists communicate with other scientists around the world in creating our products,” Hwang said.
Shiseido’s scientists did just the same in developing the Future Solution LX but for this new anti-aging line, in particular, they focused on studying the genes in cells. Hwang continued, “Several ideas ago, scientists had the idea of experimenting with the genes of a dying camelia tree in the Japanese garden of Shiseido’s labs. They were looking for technology to revive the cells of that tree. So they took the principles they developed from there and applied it to skincare.”
“They were thinking, if it can work on a tree, it can definitely work on the skin,” she added. “So that’s the idea behind the Future Solution LX, and over the years they’ve added different components to it.”
The luxury skincare brand initially launched Future Solution LX in 2009, when the main ingredient was the Skingenecel, which was developed by Shiseido from amino acid to suppress the skin’s production of the harmful protein Serpin B3 and make the skin more resistant to the signs of aging.
Meanwhile, this year’s upgraded version was boosted not only with LonGenevity Complex, but other key ingredients such as Sakura and Peach Leaf Extracts that prevent the degradation of elastin and strengthen the skin’s moisture; Chai Hu, Rubus Leaf and Pine extracts that all support the collagen for a firm, resilient skin; as well as Shiseido’s renowned ingredient called “4MSK” which provides powerful brightening benefits. There’s also the brand’s unique LiftNet technology designed to seal in moisture, leaving skin feeling bouncy and resilient.
Apart from its components, Shiseido Future Solution LX also comes with new packaging inspired by the Japanese. “It now integrates traditional Japanese craftsmanship in the packaging. So it’s merging science, art, and heritage all in one,” Hwang told The POST.
The new Shiseido Future Solution LX line consists of a wide range of products, including the Future Solution LX Extra Rich Cleansing Foam (P5,998), Balancing Softener (P8,500), Superior Radiance Serum (P13,300), Intensive Firming Contour Serum (P13,990), Total Protective Cream (P13,998), Legendary Enmei Ultimate Luminance Serum (P24,500), and Legendary Enmei Ultimate Renewing Cream (P27,000).
According to the 108 individuals who have tested the new skincare line, you would see that your skin has become smoother, brighter, and with a refined texture in four weeks of use. Meanwhile, you can expect less visible fine lines in as early as eight weeks.
