A closer look at the top contenders, surprise nominations, and the full list across all categories.
Awards season officially began with the unveiling of the 83rd Golden Globe nominees. Major studio releases still dominate the conversation, but the momentum is shifting toward a more global film landscape. Four non-English titles earned spots across the Best Picture categories, and several others picked up writing, directing, or performance nominations.
The suspected heavyweights made their expected sweep. One Battle After Another led the pack across picture, direction, and acting. Sinners, pulled in major nods too. Hamnet continued its strong awards trajectory, while Sentimental Value and It Was Just an Accident marked a landmark year for international cinema breaking into mainstream categories.

Animation also had a standout year. Netflix’s breakout hit KPop Demon Hunters scored three nominations, including Best Animated Motion Picture and Best Original Song for “Golden,” adding fresh competition to a field once dominated by Disney.
On the TV side, voters leaned toward shows with cultural bite. Severance, The White Lotus, Slow Horses, and The Pitt led the drama races, while The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, and Hacks anchored the comedy categories. Netflix’s limited series Adolescence emerged as the streaming giant’s biggest player this season, earning multiple acting nods.
Of course, there were surprises. Wicked: For Good missed a Best Picture nomination, despite widespread predictions.
Hosted by Nikki Glaser, this year’s Golden Globes will air on January 11 on CBS and Paramount+.
