Year-end lists and picks are starting! From awards nominations to best-of lists, we sure are hurtling toward the end of the year on full throttle. Of course, this season of superlatives won’t be complete without People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” pick. And this year, the “hottest honor” in entertainment goes to John Krasinski—John who?
Though not as globally known as previous titleholders such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Idris Elba, nor is he top-of-mind for many, Jeremy Allen White is my pick for instance, Kransisky oozes a distinct charm that made the venerable publication choose him for such an iconic honor.
On the cover, he was described as “always smart, always funny, and always bringing some good news.” I think that’s a refreshing way of defining what “sexy” means.

The 45-year-old, for one, has an impressive filmography. He is best known for starring as Jim Halpert in the hit American series The Office for nine seasons. He also directed and starred in the 2018 A Quiet Place film alongside his wife of 14 years, actress Emily Blunt. He went went on to direct the sequel in 2020.
More recently, he took on the titular role in the Prime Video TV series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan from 2018 to 2023. Just last month, a movie based on the series was announced. Looks like a busy year ahead awaits the hottest man on the planet.
The grand reveal happened on the Nov. 12 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The Boston-born father of two joked that when he told his wife about his “sexy achievement,” he couldn’t understand what she was saying because “there was so much laughter on the other end of the phone,” as quoted on CNN.
Krasinki’s reveal as this year’s sexiest was accompanied by an ’80s inspired video showing him dishing out tips to Colbert on how to be sexy. There was even a surprise cameo of “Sexiest Man Alive” 2022 titleholder and Captain America himself Chris Evans.

The reveal comes days after Selena Gomez’ beau Benny Blanco found himself roasted alive by netizens when he was also included by People in a “Sexiest Man Alive” feature. The inclusion of the record producer and songwriter left many people confused or in utter disbelief, with some expressing relief that he wasn’t the ultimate winner the title.

Krasinski takes the title from Greys Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, who was crowned the 2023 Sexiest Man Alive. Mel Gibson was the first to receive the title in 1985, while Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Richard Gere have each been selected twice.
