SJP Collection’s flagship store in New York closed its doors a few days ago, but you can still order a final few pairs of the brand’s shining, shimmering, splendid pumps online.
Sarah Jessica Parker’s namesake footwear line, SJP Collection, is shutting operations this fall with its New York City flagship store closing its doors last Aug. 25.
The star of Sex and the City launched the brand in 2014 alongside George Malkemus, leveraging her character Carrie Bradshaw’s ability to make Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy Choo, and Christian Louboutin into household names, bringing the talented designers to a much wider and global audience. Malkemus passed away in 2021.
Parker famously wore SJP designs in the Sex and the City spinoff And Just Like That, where onscreen the shoes were “disguised” as a vintage brand called “Duchessa Gardini” to avoid a situation where Parker and Bradshaw both exist in the same timeline, as explained by he actress herself in a 2022 Vogue interview.

And just like that, we have to say ta-ta to the shoe line’s signature feminine, strappy, glittering, and vibrant footwear. From bejeweled pointed-toe pumps to bow-adorned flats, customers have had so many pretty pairs from which to choose, signed by Parker herself.
The fashion icon has modeled her own shoes to big events, such as last October’s New York City Ballet Gala where she rocked mismatched shoes a la her famous character Carrie Bradshaw in season three of SATC.

The 59-year-old actress and producer opened a number of shops around New York City since launching her brand in 2014. Her flagship store is even down the street from her Carrie Bradshaw’s Upper East Side apartment on Sex and the City.
The label’s closing highlights the obstacles that independent footwear businesses are facing amid significant changes in the industry, according to a report on Footwear News.
A decade old this year, the brand, which leaned heavily toward classic designs, outlasted a number of other celebrity shoe ventures and even survived the whip of Covid, with Parker seen numerous times helping out in her stores. However, it continued to face stiff competition from more established labels and trend-driven brands.

“After 10 colorful years, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker has made the difficult decision to close its doors this fall,” said the statement from the brand. “The SJP Collection team expresses enormous gratitude to all of their loyal customers and supporters, as well as all those they’ve worked alongside.”
Parker has yet to comment on her company’s closure.

Despite her shoe business shutting down, Parker’s other ventures, including her beauty, wine, cocktail and literary brands, will continue to operate. You can still order a few more pairs online, with all items at 25% off.
