Florals and tailoring collide at Carolina Herrera Fall 2025

The effect was romantic, theatrical, and slightly surreal.

Wes Gordon turned a vacant midtown office into a winter garden for Carolina Herrera’s Fall 2025 show. The 48th floor of the Solow Building, with its panoramic view of a snow-covered Central Park, became a runway lined with 3,000 cherry-red blooms wired to the floor. The effect was romantic, theatrical, and slightly surreal.

The collection is inspired by the Jerzy Kosiński book and Hal Ashby film Being There, about a simple gardener who speaks in riddles and ascends to political power. Gordon saw something in that and the collection followed suit.

Rich brocades, jewel-toned lace, and foiled tweeds brought the romance. Simple silhouettes, bandeau tops, and abbreviated hemlines kept things modern. Tailored daywear: gray suits, structured coats, pinstriped jumpsuits offered something beyond the expected Herrera glamour.

One standout look is the gray wool skirt with a pleat, paired with a twist-front turtleneck and a massive gold tulip pin. Another: a black cashmere crewneck embroidered with gold floral bullion, worn over a razor-sharp tailored skirt. The house’s signature rose motif appeared in unexpected places—sculpted onto knitwear, wrapped around wrists, blooming across sheer gowns.

Speaking of sheer, Gordon pushed Herrera’s red-carpet repertoire into risqué territory with nude embroidered dresses, perfect for the bolder A-listers. He also revisited the classic white shirt, three oversized tunics floating over black lace cage skirts.

The audience: Chloe Fineman, Emmy Rossum, Nicole Scherzinger, and Mrs. Herrera herself watched as Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams played in the background. Gordon’s Carolina Herrera is still feminine, still polished, but there’s an ease to it now. A confidence. A willingness to play.

And yes, florals for fall that are sharp, unexpected, and exquisitely executed.
