Vibrant interiors, multicolored products and refreshing drinks—everything at the Louis Vuitton x Murakami pop-up deserves a space on your ‘Gram.
Multicolored handbags and trunks, a skateboard with a super-embossed Superflat Panda, and decorative bag charms—these are just some of the many reasons why the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collab re-edition collection will always be a delightful surprise to posh fashionistas.
It was last month that the French fashion powerhouse announced that it is once again teaming up with Takashi Murakami on a re-edition of their first collaboration launched in 2003. Mostly consisting of psychedelic handbags, it is touted as one of the most successful partnerships in fashion history.

Twenty years later, Louis Vuitton and Murakami are back with a collection that now spans over 200 of the luxury brand’s handbags, footwear, and accessories reinvented with Murakami’s bold and vibrant “Superflat” art style. This year, too, LV is expanding the fun and quirkiness of the collection from its covetable products to a series of whimsical pop-up shops in several countries around the world.
These pop-ups “invite visitors to discover the breadth of imagination and creation within the Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami universe,” the brand wrote on its website. “Featuring four distinct zones—Retail Space, Cinema, Care Station, and Café—the pop-up seamlessly blends retail and culture.”

Taking the spotlight in Southeast Asia is Singapore, with a Louis Vuitton x Murakami pop-up happening at 72 Joo Chiat Place from Jan. 4 to 19. Once you’re there, expect to be charmed from start to finish, with Murakami’s iconic smiling flower sculptures or “3D Superflat Garden” greeting you at the entrance.
The first stop at the pop-up is the Retail Space, where you can explore Chapter One of the Louis Vuittion x Murakami re-edition collection. Here, you’ll find a collection of bags, footwear, scarves, bag charms, and cardholders featuring Murakami’s iconic motifs such as the colorful Monogram Multicolore, the whimsical Superflat Panda, and Superflat Garden.

One way to make the most out of your visit is by copping the Louis Vuitton x Murakami Superflat Panda card holder, which is exclusive to this Singapore pop-up. The fun continues even after checkout, as shoppers will receive a token, which will give you a shot at a capsule toy machine with surprises such as Tamagotchis, sticker packs, and trading cards.

Then there’s also the cozy cinema space where you can lounge beside Murakami plushies and enjoy a “kaleidoscopic journey into the past” with remastered versions of two original Superflat movies: Superflat Monogram (first released in 2003) and Superflat First Love (released in 2009).

The pop-up’s third station is the Care Space, where you can bring your old Louis Vuitton x Murakami piece and have it cleaned and refurbished for free. Among the services offered are replacement of parts, canvas and metal cleaning, as well as paint care. You can also watch the Louis Vuitton artisans as they make your collectible as good as new.

After exploring the whimsical space and taking a hand at its activities, you can cap off your visit at the charming pink Café adorned with a transparent Monogram Multicolore roof. Here, you can sit down among Murakami’s iconic plushies as you indulge in a selection of refreshing beverages, from lattes to lemonades, all served in a Louis Vuitton x Murakami Superflat Panda cup. What’s more, every purchase of a beverage entitles you to a complimentary cookie inspired by Murakami’s iconic Superflat Flower.

Admission to the Louis Vuitton x Murakami pop-up is free, and walk-in guests are welcome. It is open from 12 pm to 8 pm from Monday to Thursday and 11 am to 9:30 pm from Friday to Sunday.
Apart from Singapore, Filipinos can check out the Louis Vuitton x Murakami pop-up in Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai when you’re traveling in Asia, as well as New York, London, and Milan when you’re flying to other parts of the world.
