The POST gathers some of the best outfits donned by the fashion-forward tandem.
The highly anticipated film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical Wicked has reached our shores! The Ariana Grande-Cynthia Erivo starrer premiered in local theaters on Wednesday, Nov. 20, two days ahead of its US premiere on the 22nd.
All eyes are on Ariana, who portrays the Good Witch Glinda, and Cynthia, who plays Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, who are both known for their powerful vocals. But even before they dazzled the world with their big screen performances, the talented divas have wowed us with their impeccable style as they hop from one event to another to promote their movie.
The pair have committed to method dressing, wearing mostly pink and green, staying faithful to their onscreen roles, but at times swapping colors for fun. The London-born singer leaned mostly on dark looks, reflecting her character Elphaba, while the pop superstar embraced all shades of pinks and feminine silhouettes in a nod to her character Glinda.

Super Bowl LVIII

The Ari-Cynthia Wicked fashion show—erm, press tour— began when the first Wicked trailer dropped during Super Bowl LVIII in February. The Wicked co-stars stepped out at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium rocking a pair of custom sequin Louis Vuitton football jerseys, featuring the names of their characters emblazoned across their backs. Though both jerseys had plenty of sequins, Cynthia’s was mainly green, while Ariana’s mostly pink.

Cynthia and Ariana made an appearance during Hollywood’s biggest night in March, serving as presenters for best original song and best original score, while channeling their Wicked characters in pink and green gowns.
Cynthia stunned in a custom Louis Vuitton emerald green leather dress styled with a matching oversized bolero jacket, complete with frills cascading down her back. Ariana, meanwhile, oozed old Hollywood glamour in a cotton candy pink custom Giambattista Valli ruched column gown and a puffy pink shawl cape.
CinemaCon

The Wicked cosplay hit the CinemaCon in Las Vegas last April. Instead of gowns, the pair opted for mini dresses that were no less glamorous. Ariana looked adorable in a memorable strapless Oscar de la Renta minidress from the spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection, designed to resemble pink flower petals. Cynthia went for a silver metallic skirt from Versace’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection, paired with a green off-the-shoulder top and green thigh-high boots.

2024 Met Gala

The fashionista duo didn’t let one of the world’s most eagerly awaited fashion spectacles pass them by. In keeping with this year’s Met Gala’s theme, “Garden of Time,” the 30-year-old two-time Grammy award-winner wore a white Loewe mother-of-pearl gown designed by creative director Jonathan Anderson. At first glance, there seemed to be not a hint of pink in her outfit, but under the stream of lights, soft pastels and pink shades shone through the creamy white gown.
Meanwhile, the 37-year-old British Oscar-nominated actress and Tony Award winner was a stunner in a black silk faille tailored jacket and skirt with lace-up back details by Thom Browne, embellished from head to toe with sequins, pink silk petals, and 3D green beaded insects.

Cynthia and Ariana did not just grace the Met Gala red carpet, they also wowed guests with a powerful duet of the 1998 hit ballad “When You Believe.” Ariana changed into an otherworldly green bespoke Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano dress for the performance that made her look like a pretty little wood nymph. Cynthia, meanwhile, donned a square-hip dress in rose houndstooth jacquard from Thom Browne’s fall 2013 collection. Their Wicked roles were switched with Ari in green and Cynthia in pink.
2024 Paris Summer Olympics

The Olympics may seem an unlikely event to promote a movie, but Ariana and Cynthia made it look so effortless. They went all out in the City of Light last July 26 in coordinated in different ‘50s-inspired evening gowns as they helped celebrate the opening ceremony of the games.
Ariana looked radiant in a baby pink midi dress by Thom Browne that would make Audrey Hepburn beam with pride. For a dash of sparkle, fashion stylist Mimi Cuttrell added Swarovski jewelry pieces to the actress’ look.
Cynthia, on the other hand, was very much Elphaba by choosing emerald green for her ensemble. She looked elegant in a custom Louis Vuitton strapless gown styled by Jason Bolden, complemented with a wide-brim hat, Roberto Coin jewelry, and eye-catching nails by artist Rose Hackle.
Sydney Premiere

On Nov. 3, the co-stars flew all the way to the Land Down Under for the Wicked Sydney premiere. The real-life Elphaba was a vision in a Louis Vuitton strapless black gown with a corset top and full skirt, complemented with jewelry by Roberto Coin — a large diamond-encrusted lion brooch with emerald in the middle of its head on a thick black choker.
Ariana was every inch a princess in a ball gown from Vivienne Westwood with layers of tulle in pink and peach and a bodice accented with pink rhinestone stars. The bodice was constructed from a corset and had dainty sheer sleeves, with the skirt trailing all the way down to the floor like a fabric waterfall. The ball gown was originally drawn by Westwood and has been frequently seen in her collections since 2010. Ariana completed her look with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, including a butterfly choker and diamond earrings.
Los Angeles Premiere

For the L.A. premiere on Nov. 9, Cynthia turned heads in a vibrant green Louis Vuitton dress which featured a bold front cutout. She wore it with a massive fluffy coat in a matching hue for a ravishing monochromatic effect. She once again accessorized with Roberto Coin jewels, including an 18K white gold diamond and emerald collar worth $750,000. Ariana went with a custom Thom Browne look— a strapless duchess satin dress in gingham crystal. She topped it with a capelet and wore a bow headband and gloves with Swarovski-studded pumps.
Mexico City Premiere

On Nov. 11, Ariana arrived at the Mexico premiere wearing a gorgeous custom Versace iridescent dress that had a deep V neckline and a structured bodice in a shimmery pale pink-white color and a voluminous skirt. Erivo’s look was a stark contrast—a black Thom Browne column dress that featured long sleeves and theatrical hands at the shoulders. The hooded top also buttoned down the front for added drama.
