Each solo moment feels like a unique piece of the same puzzle.
Blackpink is in our area once again with their highly anticipated comeback tour “Deadline” and single Jump. Blinks are buzzing with excitement to see the four-member powerhouse back together. But before we dive headfirst into the next era, it’s worth revisiting the girl group’s standout solo moments from music to cinema and fashion that made the world fall in love with Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo all over again.
Jennie Kim

Jennie was the first to test the waters of being solo back in 2018 with her debut single Solo, which topped both the Billboard World Digital Song Sales and Gaon Music Chart. Solo set the tone for what a Blackpink solo project could look and sound like: elegant, swag, and powerful.
She followed up years later with You & Me, a song she first debuted live in the Born Pink tour in 2022, which would later climb the charts upon its official release in October 2023. In October 2024, she released the single Mantra, which placed third in the Billboard 200, before releasing her latest viral single Like Jennie with her debut solo album Ruby, which was a huge commercial success.

Jennie also broke into Hollywood through her role as Dyanne in HBO’s The Idol, with a widely circulated clip of her acting out-viewing even the show’s premiere itself. She also took part in the film’s soundtrack with One of the Girls, which became so viral on TikTok that it was later released as an official single.

But her momentum didn’t stop at music or acting, Jennie also solidified her fashion presence as a long-time ambassador of Chanel, gracing the runway front rows from Paris to Seoul while also starring in multiple viral Calvin Klein campaigns.
Rosé

As the group’s main vocalist, Rosé’s delicate and aching voice has always been one of the most recognizable voices in K-pop. She displayed her introspective lyricism with her solo debut On The Ground, followed by Gone, which painted her as a master of soft heartbreak anthems. The former broke a YouTube record at the time for a K-pop solo debut.

In July 2020, Rosé made waves in the fashion world as Yves Saint Laurent’s first global ambassador in 59 years. Since then, she had been spotted at the 2021 Met Gala and 2022 Paris Fashion Week, always dressed in full YSL. In 2023, she co-starred alongside Bella Hadid in YSL’s Fall/Winter 2024 campaign and was featured in their Spring/Summer 2025 Paris show, consistently reinforcing her image as YSL’s muse.

However, it would be APT, her surprise 2024 collaboration with Bruno Mars, that would truly catapult her solo stardom to new heights. Charming listeners with its nostalgic pop-punk instrumentation and fun lyrics that paid homage to a Korean drinking game, APT was arguably last year’s biggest organic hit. It debuted #1 on the Billboard Global 200 and was the fastest song by a K-pop artist to reach 1 billion Spotify streams.

Lisa Manoban

Lisa always dominated the stage, but she truly owned it the moment her solo debut Lalisa dropped in 2021. Lalisa was a lavish spectacle from dance to design, but what made it unforgettable was how it doubled as Lisa’s love letter to herself and to Thailand.
The song broke YouTube records and was followed soon after by Money, which earned her a Guinness World Record in 2023 for being the first solo K-pop track to reach 1 billion Spotify streams. With that, Lisa cemented her status as a global sensation.

Last year, she dropped a string of singles leading up to her solo album “Alter Ego,” with Rockstar standing out as a bold anthem. Shot in the nightscape of Bangkok, the music video was a proud celebration of her heritage. The song went on to earn her a Best K-pop win at the 2024 VMAs, and made headlines again when she performed it at the Victoria’s Secret World Tour.

Like her bandmates, Lisa has also made notable ventures into fashion. She’s a current ambassador for both Bulgari and Louis Vuitton, and had been the three-year ambassador for Celine. Early this year, she also debuted on screen with her role as Mook on HBO’s The White Lotus.
Jisoo

As the last member to debut solo, Jisoo took her time and it paid off. Her solo album “ME” sold over 1 million copies in less than two days, making her the first female K-pop soloist to reach that milestone. The title track Flower debuted at #2 at the Billboard Global 200, bringing a unique sound of elegance and restraint, distinct from Blackpink’s explosive and energized anthems.

Beyond music, Jisoo’s most impressive solo milestone might be her leading role in the 2021 drama Snowdrop, where she plays a university student who unknowingly harbors a North Korean spy. Though the show sparked controversy upon release, her performance was widely praised and earned her acting awards and newfound respect as a dramatic actress.

Jisoo has also built a name for herself in fashion, especially as a global ambassador for Dior. She dominated the 2022 Paris Fashion Week by being the celebrity with the highest valued social media posts at $15.7 million. Her social media posts during Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2024 show also generated $11.8 million EMV, representing nearly 26% of Dior’s total exposure during Fashion Month, according to Vogue.
The road back to Blackpink
While the group’s solo activities have allowed each member to spread their wings, they’ve never strayed too far from the Blackpink identity. Each solo moment feels like a unique piece of the same puzzle.
Now, with the “Deadline” tour in full swing, fans are bracing for what could be Blackpink’s biggest group comeback yet.
