With its feathery leaves and vibrant yellow blossoms, mimosa captivates the senses with its delicate appearance and soft, powdery fragrance.
In 2023, Kenzo presented the first chapter of a brand new collection, the Flower Ikebana Sakura, inspired by the cherry blossom during Japan’s spring season. In 2024, another flower inspired a new fragrance: the Flower Ikebana Mimosa by Kenzo.
“My aim was to create a velvety and enveloping olfactory experience. The radiant and warm aura of mimosa—coupled with sesame acting as a liaison—introduces a silky, delicately carnal texture of utmost elegance. Similar to the art of Ikebana, it has a hint of Japanese hinoki,” Marie Salamagne, perfumer of Flower ikebana Mimosa by Kenzo, said
With its feathery leaves and vibrant yellow blossoms, mimosa is a flower that captivates the senses with its delicate appearance and soft, powdery fragrance. Though often understated in the world of flora, the mimosa holds a special place in both nature and culture, symbolizing sensitivity, resilience, and the promise of spring.

The scent of mimosa is as soft and inviting as its appearance, often described as a blend of powdery sweetness with subtle hints of green freshness. This fragrance has made mimosa a beloved ingredient in perfumery, where it is used to add depth, warmth, and a touch of femininity to various compositions. Perfume houses have long been enamored with mimosa’s scent, capturing its essence in fragrances that evoke feelings of comfort, nostalgia, and the gentle embrace of nature.
Flower ikebana Mimosa is like the warm embrace of a winter sun. The verticality of hinoki wood supports the entire composition, with golden sesame extract as an intermediary, resonating an addictive comfort.

This composition is made of 91% naturally sourced ingredients. Mimosa is enhanced by a bouquet of three raw materials well known in Japan: the Kumquat Zests with its citrus fruity, green, and bitter notes, the Golden Sesame pure extract (via CO2 extraction) with its roasted and creamy notes, typical of the Japanese cuisine, and the Hinoki wood accord, a Japanese variety of Cypress with woody, aromatic, fresh, and resinous notes. All these ingredients combined creates a new fragrance of blooming sunshine bouquet.
Kenzo created a new flower design with a stylized branch of Mimosa, whose color is reminiscent of the kumquat, a perfect mix between the shape of the French mimosa and the Japanese kumquat.
