Think warm lights, natural textures and plenty of cozy details as IKEA brings a touch of Scandi style to Filipino Christmas.
The “ber” months have arrived and Christmas carols have returned to malls and radio stations. While September signals the beginning of autumn and leaves begin to turn red and golden in many parts of the world, holiday colors are beginning to take over Filipino homes.
On cue, IKEA Philippines opened its Christmas Shop last September 1 with the arrival of the Vinterfint and Stråla 2026 collections inspired by Swedish folklore and that sense of Scandinavian hygge.
There’s no exact English translation for hygge. The concept—pronounced roughly “hoo-gah”—is less a decorating style than a feeling: the warmth of soft lighting, the comfort of familiar things, good food shared around a table, and the simple pleasure of slowing down with people you love.
It may have Scandinavian or Danish roots, but hygge feels at home in the Philippines, especially at Christmas, where the season begins as early as September and unfolds over four months of family gatherings, long dinners, twinkling lights and homes dressed for the holidays.

Bringing the two traditions together, IKEA launched its 2026 Christmas Shop featuring the playful and bright Vinterfint and Stråla collections at IKEA Pasay and online at Ikea.ph. If you’re not yet in the IKEA Family program, it’s the perfect way to start your holiday shopping.
“Members just need to show their membership card at the cashier or type it out upon checkout at Ikea.ph,” said Heirvy Nicolas, IKEA Philippines sales leader. “They will receive 30 days of IKEA Family Price Protection, allowing them to claim a refund for the difference if a purchased item goes on sale, alongside 14 days of Oops Assurance during self-transport or self-assembly.”
The Vinterfint collection takes inspiration from classic Swedish traditions while offering contemporary styles suited for modern living. The range features a mix of classic and whimsical tabletop accents, plush figures, artificial greenery, and tree ornaments.
For hosting and dining, Vinterfint introduces seasonal baking accessories, festive table linens, and serving pieces designed for holiday family meals. The collection also provides convenient gift-wrapping options, including patterned wrapping paper and multicolored bags.
Lighting the way for the season, the Stråla collection highlights energy-efficient LED lamps, starry window shades, fairy lights, and decorative tabletop illuminations designed to create a warm, inviting glow throughout the home.
With the Philippines’ unique Christmas concepts and Ikea’s hygge sensibility, a parol can hang near Scandinavian stars or petals or even a curtain of twinkly stars; a belen handed through family generations can sit alongside plush Santas and other tabletop decorations; a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments in mixed patterns; and to make gift-giving organized, a 25-piece set of gift bags.
Because Christmas begins so early, preparing for the holidays need not be rushed and stressful, but an enjoyable trip (or trips) to IKEA in Pasay or online to gradually get into the spirit as Christmas takes over the house—one gift, one tinsel at a time.
