The actress adds a new milestone to a taxpayer record spanning more than a decade.
Celebrity success usually comes with familiar markers: a blockbuster, a brand deal, a sold-out show, perhaps another million followers. Marian Rivera just received recognition for something far removed from the usual showbiz scoreboard.
The actress was named one of the top taxpayers of the Bureau of Internal Revenue District Office No. 41-Mandaluyong for the first semester of 2026, receiving the recognition on October 1. Her plaque cited her contribution to the district’s successful achievement of its revenue-collection target for the period. The amount of tax Rivera paid wasn’t disclosed.
Rivera marked the milestone simply on social media, sharing photographs from the ceremony with the hashtag #PagkilalaSaNatatangingTaxpayer. RDO No. 41, meanwhile, described her as one of its Natatanging Taxpayers and cited her “responsible tax compliance” as a contribution to nation-building.
Beyond box office and brand deals
The 2026 recognition isn’t Rivera’s first appearance among the country’s notable taxpayers. Her documented record stretches back at least 17 years, based on previously published BIR figures.
In 2009, Rivera ranked 62nd among the country’s top individual taxpayers, remitting approximately P10.12 million in income taxes. The BIR list also included entertainment personalities such as Sharon Cuneta, Kris Aquino, Piolo Pascual, and Judy Ann Santos.
Five years later, Rivera again landed among the country’s leading individual taxpayers. The BIR’s Top 500 Individual Taxpayers for 2014 placed Marian Gracia Rivera at No. 98, with exactly P19,000,949 in regular income taxes paid.
Her latest recognition brings that record closer to home. On October 1, 2026, Mandaluyong named Rivera one of its Natatanging Taxpayers for the first semester of the year, recognizing her contribution to the district’s collection target.
The amount Rivera paid for the first half of 2026 has not been publicly disclosed, so comparing her latest contribution with her previous national rankings wouldn’t be possible. What the available records establish is a documented trail spanning 2009, 2014, and 2026—turning the latest plaque from a one-off citation into another point in a much longer taxpayer record.
Other celebrities who’ve been recognized as top taxpayers
Rivera isn’t the only familiar face to receive this recognition. In recent years, the BIR has also honored several entertainment personalities through its regional and district tax campaigns.
Anne Curtis: Quezon City
Anne Curtis has received taxpayer recognition more than once in recent years. In March 2023, BIR Revenue Region No. 7A-Quezon City recognized her among its top celebrity taxpayers for 2022, alongside Coco Martin, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and other entertainment personalities. She received another plaque from the BIR in 2025 as a Top Taxpaying Media Personality.
Vice Ganda
In March 2025, Vice Ganda was recognized during BIR Revenue Region No. 7A-Quezon City’s Regional Tax Campaign Kickoff as one of its top celebrity taxpayers.
Dingdong Dantes
Dingdong Dantes was honored during the same BIR Revenue Region No. 7A campaign. According to reports, Dantes was among Quezon City’s recognized celebrity taxpayers, alongside Vice Ganda, Dennis Trillo, Jennylyn Mercado, and other personalities.
Julia Barretto
Julia was recognized as the second-highest celebrity taxpayer in Quezon City for 2024 at the same BIR event. Her management, Viva Artists Agency, also officially announced the recognition on Instagram.
Jennylyn Mercado
Jennylyn Mercado joined husband Dennis Trillo among the celebrities recognized by the BIR in March 2025. Both received plaques during the Revenue Region No. 7A campaign kickoff, with the recognition tied to their tax contributions in Quezon City.
Catriona Gray
Former Miss Universe Catriona Gray was another personality officially identified among the taxpayers honored during the same 2025 BIR Revenue Region No. 7A event. Gray joined Vice Ganda, Dingdong Dantes, Jennylyn Mercado, Dennis Trillo, Kim Chiu, Julia Barretto, and other personalities honored for their tax compliance.
When celebrity comes with civic contribution
Taxpayer citations don’t carry quite the same glamour as trophies, campaigns, or red-carpet appearances. Perhaps that’s precisely what makes them noteworthy.
For Rivera, the latest recognition also offers a different lens through which to look at longevity. Her career has expanded from television and film into endorsements and entrepreneurship, but the available tax records provide another timeline running quietly alongside those public milestones: P10.12 million and a No. 62 national ranking in 2009; P19 million and a No. 98 ranking in 2014; and a Mandaluyong recognition in 2026.
The numbers behind her latest citation remain private. The recognition itself, however, puts a different kind of achievement on display—one where celebrity, compliance, and civic contribution happen to share the same stage.
