The queen of #RichTok turned Villa Balbiano into a three-day celebration with couture gowns, million-dollar jewelry, and moments that kept her followers hooked.
The internet’s favorite wedding this summer didn’t belong to a royal or a movie star, it was TikTok personality Becca Bloom’s. The 27-year-old, whose real name is Rebecca Ma, married her longtime partner, David Pownall, in Lake Como at the famous Villa Balbiano. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because the villa appeared in House of Gucci.
For three days, Lake Como became the backdrop to a wedding that felt part high fashion event and part romantic film. There were couture gowns, luxury jewelry, and floral displays that looked like something out of a dream.

Who is Becca Bloom?
If you scroll TikTok, you’ve probably seen her in your FYP. Becca is known online as the “Queen of RichTok.” Her videos are a mix of luxury and life advice. One day she’s unboxing an Hermès bag, the next she’s plating caviar for breakfast or explaining how to negotiate at work. The tone is always calm and inviting, which is why millions of people keep watching.

She only started posting on TikTok in January 2025, but within months had more than four million followers there plus nearly two million on Instagram. According to The Wall Street Journal, she grew up in Atherton, California, went to the Menlo School, and later graduated from USC’s Marshall School of Business. She now works in fintech.
Her parents, Simon Ma and Heidi Chou, are the founders of Camelot Information Systems, a Chinese IT and cloud company that once traded on the New York Stock Exchange. With that background, Becca doesn’t need to rely on brand deals to live her lifestyle, social media is more of a passion project than her paycheck.
How Becca and David met
Becca and David’s story began in Palo Alto in December 2019. As she told Vogue, the two met at a coffee shop, where David—new to the Bay Area from Canada—asked to buy her a coffee. She replied that she only drank tea. What could have been a short conversation turned into a 15-hour first date, walking around her old neighborhood and ending with sushi.

David, who studied at the University of British Columbia, worked at Google and now works in software at Amazon, proposed in July 2023. The setting was just as cinematic as their wedding would be: a private boat ride at sunset in Positano.
The wedding

For their wedding, Becca and David chose Villa Balbiano, one of the most iconic villas on Lake Como and a favorite backdrop for celebrity weddings. Becca explained to Vogue that they kept the guest list small, about 60 people, because both she and David wanted something intimate. A larger traditional Asian wedding with their families is still to come.
Even with the small guest list, nothing about the weekend felt understated. Guests arrived by boat for the rehearsal dinner. Tables were filled with blush roses and candles, menus were designed as hand-cut roses, and little touches nodded to the couple’s story and family heritage. David’s love of history was referenced with Roman busts, while Becca’s side of the family was honored with small crane details, a nod to her mother’s Chinese name.

Becca wore three Oscar de la Renta gowns across the weekend. The most notable one was her custom ceremony dress, embroidered with laser-cut peonies—her favorite flower, which also symbolizes beauty and family in Chinese culture. For the reception, she switched into a stained-glass inspired gown from the spring 2025 collection, paired with Christian Louboutin ballet heels. For the rehearsal dinner, she wore a vintage Chanel couture dress.

Her jewelry was as extravagant as the gowns. She wore Van Cleef & Arpels high jewelry from the Folie des Prés collection, Tiffany Victoria wedding bands, and the engagement ring David proposed with. Her ceremony shoes were Chanel heels she bought with her mother in Paris, making them both stylish and sentimental.
Becca walked down a hydrangea-lined aisle to live strings playing Can’t Help Falling in Love. They sealed their vows with a kiss and a burst of color smoke. The toasts were personal; her mother presented a book she had written for her daughter.

The price tag
Becca shared on TikTok that renting Villa Balbiano cost between $100,000 and $150,000 for three days. With couture gowns, Van Cleef high jewelry, florals by Larry Walshe, and photography by Jose Villa, planners estimate the whole weekend cost between three and four million dollars.
Some people see that number and think it’s excessive. Others see it as a dream. For Becca, it was simply in line with the world she lives in. Her wedding, like her content, wasn’t about subtlety. It was about sharing beauty, detail, and spectacle in a way that makes people want to keep watching.
