Since its launch in 1979, the Italian label’s signature footwear line has remained a sartorial favorite among the stylish.
For its men’s spring-summer 2026 collection, Italian luxury brand Tod’s celebrates its very own icon: the Gommino.
Amid the coming and going of trends, Tod’s signature footwear line has stood its ground for almost fifty years, remaining a beloved sartorial staple among the stylish. Known for its distinctive rubber pebble outsole, with 133 pebbles to be exact, the Gommino is a timeless, versatile shoe that combines comfort and style.
The Gommino is also a paragon of Italian craftsmanship. The leathers used in making a shoe come from only the finest tanneries in the world, with the cutting of the leather and the sewing together of the pieces done painstakingly a mano—by hand. The construction of each pair of loafers is a study in meticulousness, taking about 100 steps and using up to 35 individual pieces of leather. Each pair of Gommino then goes through the most rigorous of quality checks by highly skilled craftsmen, who have well trained eyes that could spot the tiniest of flaws.

With the art and craftsmanship involved in making each Gommino shoe, it hardly comes as a surprise that since its launch in 1979, it has won a loyal following among the who’s who of high society. Among its fervent fans are members of the royalty like the late Diana, Princess of Wales; King Juan Carlos of Spain, Princess Caroline of Monaco, and Princess Catherine.
It’s indeed high time for Tod’s to honor this shoe which has helped catapult the label to a global luxury powerhouse—and what better way to celebrate an icon than through its latest collection. Presented at the open-air area of the lush and elegant Villa Necchi Campiglio, a historic residence-slash-museum in Milan, creative director Matteo Tamburini unveiled a collection inspired by leisure and outdoor living.

Models donning streamlined silhouettes and light garments lounged on deck chairs by the pool. The unstructured blazers, bombers, and coach jackets are made from Pashmy—Tod’s signature type of leathers, specifically goatskin, which is known for their exceptional softness and lightness. Despite its delicate and supple texture, Pashmy is sturdy enough for use in outerwear and accessories, perfect for the Tod’s man who loves the great outdoors.
There’s also linen in crêpe, satin, and linen-silk versions that lend a laid-back yet elegant touch to safari jackets and shirts. Travel-wool also made its debut, per the Tod’s website, which is used for outerwear and travel trousers.

Tying all of the looks together is the Gommino in different forms: from the Bubble to the boat shoe, slipper to loafer and sneaker versions. The Red Dot sneaker blends craftsmanship and technology, while the unstructured loafer is presented in Pashmy and nappa. True enough, in any iteration, the Gommino speaks of quiet luxury and self-assurance.
Completing the looks is the trekking-inspired backpack Di Bag Folio, another Tod’s icon, and the ever-reliable Greca Belt.
Celebrities in attendance were actors Joe Alwyn, Cooper Koch, Sebastiano Pigazzi, Keita Machida, and Andre Lamoglia. Also spotted were singers Jungwoo, Lennon Gallagher and Baptiste Giabiconi, as well as Oscar and Tony-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell.
