Tory Burch’s trademark ‘T’ means ‘twisted’ in her latest Fall/Winter collection

The American designer reinvents cold weather staples, elevating familiar pieces with an extra dose of oomph.

Tory Burch has made a name for herself and built an eponymous global fashion powerhouse by doing what she does best: reimagining classics. Her 2025/2026 fall-winter collection is no different, albeit a bit more…twisted.

Launched yesterday, Feb. 10, at the New York Fashion Week, the 58-year-old Pennsylvania-born philanthropist drew inspiration from “twisted American sportswear,” according to the Associated Press. Burch put her own twist to the pieces by throwing in unconventional and exaggerated details and pairings.

“It was sort of a literal and figurative take on the word ‘twisting.’ I loved the idea that sportswear was created in America,” Burch told the AP after the show.

And what better venue to serve as backdrop for the show than the Museum of Modern Art. Much like the revered art institution, Tory Burch’s fall-winter collection is both familiar yet edgy, stylish yet practical—something special but wouldn’t look out of place in your closet. Models, led by a smoldering Adriana Lima, sashayed to a haunting soundtrack which gave the show a rather atmospheric feel.

“I’ve come here for my whole life and I’ve always loved MoMA and it’s just a miracle to me. It’s like the quintessential perfect space in New York,” she said, as quoted in the same AP article.

The collection highlighted layers—lots and lots of it. Well, what’s autumn and winter without layers upon layers of clothing after all? There were sweaters draped on top of coats, a striking oversized blazer, button downs with enlarged sleeves and cuffs, and memorable wool-and-cotton track pants.

Perhaps the piece which stood out the most was what Burch called “handbag jackets,” leather utilitarian short jackets which had multiple pockets, freeing women from the burden of carrying a bag. It best encapsulates her idea of “twisting” a familiar article of clothing, making sure its elegant design is just as functional, prioritizing utility and ease without losing sight of aesthetics. These handbag jackets appeared throughout the show and come in black leather, denim, and even fire engine red.

Among the stars spotted at the Tory Burch show were Amanda Seyfried, Jodie Turner-Smith, Alexandra Daddario, Ciara, Myha’la, and the grand dame of American retail herself, Martha Stewart.

As promised, Tory Burch took cold weather staples, twisted them, and in the process, elevated these familiar pieces by adding an extra dose of oomph without taking away their beauty and functionality.
