Protagonists of Italian craftsmanship: A quick look at Tod’s Spring Summer ‘24 collection

The star of the show has always been the Italian craftsmanship that characterizes the DNA of Tod’s.

The atmosphere at the historical Milanese location of Villa Necchi was electric, adding to the significance it holds in Tod’s brand history. The venue, adorned with traditional Italian gardens, created a picturesque backdrop for the presentation of their latest collection.

As the show began, I was immediately captivated by the reinterpretation of classic pieces, infused with a touch of contemporary simplicity. The casual tailoring exuded a relaxed elegance, showcasing warm tones of brown and ecru crafted from the finest materials. From luxurious lightweight leathers to ethereal suede, each garment truly embodied the essence of the Tod’s Italian lifestyle.

One element that particularly caught my attention was the distinctive triangular leather pattern adorning the jackets, which quickly became an iconic symbol of the collection. It was a striking detail that added character and style. The short and light cabans, along with the anorak windbreakers, portrayed a man who effortlessly embraces elegance without compromising on comfort. Another standout piece was the Greca Belt, which eschewed the conventional buckle, making a bold statement and epitomizing the contemporary menswear aesthetic.

The show continued to impress with the unveiling of the Bubble Gommino and the iconic Gommino shoes. These classics took me back to my college years when Tod’s shoes were a staple in my wardrobe, representing both style and practicality. The models gracefully showcased the collection, and as they made their final walk down the runway, the Tod’s Riviera Slip-on stole the spotlight, adorned with tassels that exuded effortless Italian charm.

Reflecting on the show, it became evident that bags, much like belts, played an essential role in completing each look. The Di Bag, now available in a men’s version, made a strong statement. Whether it was the sleek portfolio, the versatile hand or shoulder bag, or the weekender, each design captured the essence of the contemporary man, perfectly blending functionality with Tod’s unmistakable style. Furthermore, the Trek backpack brought the Tod’s lifestyle to life, presented in a more urban version. Crafted from nylon with leather details or rendered in soft leather or suede, it showcased the fusion of handmade elegance.

This extraordinary show not only unveiled an exceptional collection but also evoked cherished memories. Tod’s commitment to handmade craftsmanship and dedication to quality continues to establish them as a timeless brand that resonates with people of all generations.
