Gourmet marvels en route

Discover a tapestry of flavors as renowned chefs and Dom Pérignon take center stage on British Pullman’s luxury trains

In a Wes Anderson film-inspired collaboration, luxury train service British Pullman has partnered with Dom Pérignon to create a series of pop-up dining experiences. These culinary adventures are curated by celebrated female chefs from the crème de la crème of the UK’s culinary scene.

Step into the world of British Pullman, where their trains are transformed into meticulously crafted, portable movie sets. With 11 passenger cabins preserved from the golden era of the 1920s and 1930s, the trains evoke the opulence of a bygone era.

The interiors have been refurbished to harmonize the exuberance of William Morris’s Arts and Crafts movement with the whimsical modernism of Wes Anderson. The result is a visual feast that captures the imagination, as the director himself lent his creative touch to one of these carriages.

As you take in the scenic outdoor views, the train’s interior provides an equally captivating ambiance. Veneered panels, art deco lamps illuminating polished brass, beveled-glass accents, and glossy mahogany fittings create an elegant atmosphere. Plush upholstered armchairs offer a comfortable and intimate setting for conversations and contemplation as the train traverses the landscape.

The highlight of this remarkable journey is the culinary mastery that accompanies the experience. Four female chefs have been chosen to showcase their gastronomic prowess, infusing each meal with their creative flair. Lisa Goodwin-Allen opened the series last June 23 with her tantalizing tasting menu featuring wild garlic mushrooms with roast Orkney scallop, tomatoes, and basil; and her pièce de résistance, succulent Lake District lamb with onions and whey.

July 14 marks a culinary rendezvous with Anna Haugh, head chef and owner of Myrtle Restaurant in Chelsea, where she unveils a contemporary Irish fine-dining experience. On September 29, the visionary chef-patron of the Michelin-starred Murano, Angela Hartnett, takes center stage, orchestrating an Italian-inspired feast.

Lastly, mark your calendar for October 20, when the Michelin-starred Spanish maestro Nieves Barragán Mohacho of Sabor presents a gastronomic odyssey that showcases the vibrant flavors of Spain.

To complement these culinary experiences, each menu will be paired with the effervescent nectar of Dom Pérignon champagne. A discerning sommelier will curate a selection of wines, ensuring a harmonious union of flavors that dances on the palate.

Sit back, sip chilled champagne, and allow the enchanting English countryside to unfold before your eyes like a meticulously storyboarded scene. Immerse yourself in this captivating tale of culinary artistry and refined travel—an experience that seamlessly blends the whimsy of Wes Anderson’s imaginative universe with the allure of British Pullman’s luxury train service.
