Celebrate downtown Manila at ‘Hola, Escolta!’

The first iteration since the pandemic, Hola, Escolta! brings back the Escolta street party and new festivities.

If you haven’t set your long weekend plans yet, make sure to mark November 25 and add Hola, Escolta! to your list of things to do for the break ahead! In celebration of the 95th anniversary of the First United Building—modern Escolta’s creative and culture hub—the weekend street party will host a variety of workshops, markets, fairs, exhibitions, and performances.

Regulars of the district will recall that prior to the pandemic, the packed and bustling Escolta block parties filled the streets with expressions of culture, identity, heritage, and love for all things old and new Manila. Hola, Escolta! brings back that familiar feeling of community through culture and new activities to boot.

Everyone is welcome to check out the open studio tours and activities, such as the dance and movement classes by We Are Shapeshifters, portrait sessions at Espacio Creativo, merchandise drops by One/Zero Design Collective, and the Nilad Open House at the Panpisco Building, which will host a panel on heritage conservation.

Other activities include the community mural painting, interactive street installations, open markets, and Downtown Disco at the the “Queen of the Streets” herself, Escolta!

Organized by the First United Building in partnership with the Light Rail Manila Corporation, Hola, Escolta! is supported by the City Government of Manila (Manila Public Information Office),the Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila, and the Escolta Commercial Association, Inc.
