LV and Pharrell Williams’ quirky $1,500 bag plays up the nostalgic vibes.
There’s nothing like jamming to your favorite tunes from the nineties and early oughts, don’t you think? Millennials, both old and young, would know—sliding a cassette tape of your go-to boy band into a Walkman, or tapping a pop hit by Britney Spears, Usher, or Rihanna on your iPod, is just pure joy.
It looks like Louis Vuitton, particularly creative director Pharrell Williams, totally gets it. For its new accessory collection, Williams is bringing back Apple’s beloved 2001-born MP3 player, aka the iPod. Ok, maybe not literally, but in the form of a cross-body pochette. Talk about nostalgia!
Reimagining everyday objects as high fashion is not new for Louis Vuitton, as seen in the Lobster Bag and gyoza-inspired pouches unveiled in its recent Fall/Winter 2025 show. For its Spring 2025 season, the French powerhouse time travels to the past to take old music tech back to the center stage. The little rectangular bag, in particular, takes the form of the house’s Amazone cross body but with the look of Apple’s famed portable media player.

While it’s made of leather and, of course, it can’t actually play some beats, the little bag brings playfulness to LV’s staples, with the small window designed to replicate an iPod screen. The brand’s attention to detail is reflected in other quirky features on the made-up screen, such as the fully charged power bar in the corner, the play button, and “Louis Vuitton Collection Spring 2025” written in place of the song title.

Besides its small monochrome display, anyone would easily recognize an iPod because of its iconic touch-sensitive scroll wheel. Louis Vuitton recreated the gadget’s signature element with an embossed LV monogram enclosed by a circular tab.
Even the zipper handles are on point. They come in the form of two gold headphones tied together and lux-ified with LV’s monogram print. Adding more cleverness is the timestamp on the purse’s “song” that reads 18:54, which is the year the fashion powerhouse was founded by Louis Vuitton in Paris, France.

Another nostalgic piece in Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2025 music-inspired collection is a cross-body bag designed like a cassette player. It comes complete with pause/play buttons and fast-forward and rewind icons embossed on the top.
And, of course, what’s a cassette player without a cartridge? Louis Vuitton adds more fun to the mix with a cassette tape card holder with graphics that showcase “Side A” and “Side B,” as well as headphones and LV logo on the inside.

The collection is set to roll out on Louis Vuitton’s website on March 13. Its iPod-inspired bag, in particular, will retail for about $1,500 or approximately P87,000. It may not actually play your favorite tunes, but the fashion house also offers real-life tech gear, such as the LV Monogram Speaker, Horizon Earphones, and Tambour Watch on its website.
