From iPhone 17 to Apple’s rumored Home smart display, here’s everything you might want to cop for a big tech flex this year.
2025 shows every sign of being yet another exciting year, with a slew of must-see movies, series, and concerts invading our stadiums and hitting our screens in the coming months. But entertainment is not the only department that offers us a thrilling year ahead. There’s also tech, boosted by new hardware releases from industry giant Apple.
Over the past year, renowned Apple insiders—including Bloomberg’s chief tech correspondent Mark Gurman—have been reporting that Apple has substantial plans for key launches this 2025, including the iPhone SE 3, iPhone 17, new AirTag, the M4 MacBook Air, M5 MacBook Pro, and possibly more.
In this article, The POST looks at all the products we reckon Apple will drop throughout 2025. Read on to find out which one suits your most-wanted tech upgrade this year.
M4 MacBook Air

The first major move Apple is predicted to make this year is to beef up its MacBook Air with a powerful M4 chip. First introduced in the M4 MacBook Pro last October, the M4 chip promises to increase the upcoming MacBook Air’s performance by up to 25 percent more than its previous M3 chipset.
M4’s 10-core GPU is designed to deliver up to 2x graphics performance than the M1, making tasks such as editing photos and playing AAA games fast and smooth. It is also built with a faster 16-core Neural Engine which, Apple says, supports Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and other AI workloads.
According to Gurman, Apple will pair this system upgrade with a boost on the MacBook Air’s RAM, from 8 GB to 16 GB. With the higher performance from both the M4 chip and 16 GB RAM, the MacBook Air is expected to use less power, which should increase battery life.

In addition, the tech giant is expected to increase the specs of the MacBook Air camera to a 12-megapixel unit and equip it with the Apple Center Stage software which keeps the subject in the center of the camera during video calls. Apple is also predicted to add a nano-texture display to reduce glare on the screen and include an additional Thunderbolt 4 port to the laptop from its current two.
The MacBook Air M4 models are expected to arrive between January and March 2025.
iPhone SE 4

Many Apple users love the iPhone SE for offering the familiar feel of older iPhones at a relatively affordable price. Last year, the crowd-favorite became the talk of the internet when it was rumored to make a comeback this year.
Bloomberg’s Gurman reported in August that the fourth-generation iPhone SE is set to hit shelves in March 2025, three years after the third generation was released in March 2022. It is slated to be a major upgrade over previous models and might even come with a new name, “iPhone 16E.”
The budget phone is expected to borrow its looks from the iPhone 14, which would be a significant change for the line since the iPhone SE3 is the only iPhone that comes with a Home Button to date. iPhone SE 4 is also said to support Apple Intelligence, including features such as Image Playground, Writing Tools, and Genmoji, among others.

Apart from Gurman, notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the smartphone will possibly be released in March 2025 after entering mass production in December 2024.
AirPods Pro 3

Music lovers and audiophiles can expect new cool audio gear in the form of the AirPods Pro 3, which is rumored to launch early this year, according to Gurman. The tech insider said that the new wireless earbuds could ship with a major design overhaul, which includes the replacement of the physical pair/reset button with a capacitive touch button.
As with any gadget launch, people are expecting the AirPods Pro 3 to carry the same features as that of its predecessor, the AirPods Pro 2: modified sound, high-bandwidth connectivity, enhanced action noise cancellation, Hearing Assistance, and a charging case with USB-C and MagSafe charging plus built-in speaker.
Meanwhile, tech outlet Tom’s Guide reported that the AirPods Pro 3 is also expected to come with a new H3 processor infused with software enhancements, as well as new health-related features, including sensors that can measure your heart rate and body temperature through your ear canal.
Home smart display

Apple is further expanding to the smart home segment with a rumored “AI wall tablet for home control” that may be released this year. According to Bloomberg’s Gurman, the Apple Home smart display will “show” you what an Apple HomePod, or other smart speakers, does for your home.
It will use an operating system, dubbed homeOS, that could connect to and control smart devices like light, locks, security systems, cameras, appliances, and more. It will also run Apple apps like FaceTime, Calendar, Notes, and Home. Unlike the HomePod, the rumored smart home display will support Apple Intelligence. The tech giant is also reported to have tested prototypes with magnets for wall-mounting. The device is expected to drop early this year.

iPhone 17 series

Apple users know a year isn’t complete without the launch of a new iPhone. The 2025 variant, the iPhone 17 series, is predicted to be launched in September, just like the previous generations’ releases.
According to DigiTimes, Apple’s flagship smartphone would likely come with Apple’s in-house 5G chip. This is in addition to an upgraded 24MP selfie camera and a new anti-reflective display, according to Ming Chi Kuo. iPhone 17 Pro models are also expected to ship with a new A19 Pro chipset, with the Pro Max’s rear camera system boosted with new 48MP ultrawide and telephoto lenses.
Apart from these, Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple might replace the iPhone 17 Plus with a new iPhone 17 Air, which could come with a thinner chassis and lighter weight.
M5 MacBook Pro

MacBook Pro users looking to upgrade their laptops may want to wait until October to get their hands on the M5 MacBook Pro. Little is still known about the upcoming laptop, but Gurman predicts that the biggest possible upgrade will only be in the M5 chip. The SoC is expected to offer the typical performance upgrade, which is between 15 to 25 percent over that of the previous generation.
Other than that, the M5 MacBook Pro is likely going to be thinner than the current design, which is already just 0.61 inches. It is also possible that the laptop will get WiFi 7 and an upgrade to its USB-C port, from Thunderbolt 4 to Thunderbolt 5.
Reports say that Apple is saving the next major upgrades for the M6 MacBook Pro, which is likely to be released in 2026. Meanwhile, the M5 variant is predicted to be launched in late October or early November, same as the M4 MacBook Pro this year.
AirTag 2

Apple’s tracking device, AirTag, is also rumored to get an upgrade in 2025. According to another report by Gurman, the AirTag 2 could feature the brand’s second-generation ultra-wideband (UWB) also found on the iPhone 15 and newer models. And because this UWB increases the Precision Finding range of iPhones, it is expected to expand the AirTag’s range to 200 feet as well.
Aside from that, the AirTag 2 is expected to have a harder-to-remove speaker as a safety measure. Ming Chi Kuo also predicted the device to be integrated with the Vision Pro mixed-reality headset.
Vision Pro 2

Apple is slated to launch the second generation of its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset “between the fall of 2025 and spring of 2026,” according to Gurman. While not much has been said about the upcoming device, it is predicted to be pepped up with the M5 chip also found on the 2025 MacBook Pro.
The Vision Pro 2 will not have any design change, according to Gurman, and it comes as no wonder especially because the device’s first generation was only launched in February last year. “Vision Pro 2 —assuming it’s released—will look almost entirely like the current design,” he wrote in his Power On newsletter. “The big changes are internal, including a processor upgrade.”
