Voyager Station: The world’s first space hotel will literally be out-of-this-world luxury

Why settle for five stars when you can sleep among them?

Launching in 2027, Voyager Station will redefine the high life—zero gravity style. Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is turning the idea of having an R&R in outer space into reality with the development of the world’s first luxury space hotel, Voyager Station.

The futuristic hotel redefines travel as we all know it. Soon, space exploration will no longer be just for trained astronauts—even regular jet-setters can take a luxurious staycation beyond planet Earth.

The project is being led by OAC, a California-based space construction company that now operates under the name Above Space, and is backed by billionaires and commercial space travel pioneers Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson.

Voyager Station is certainly not your typical spacecraft. It is designed as a giant rotating wheel orbiting Earth—and it’s not just for show. This spinning design, inspired by master rocket builder Wernher von Braun, will create artificial gravity using centrifugal force.

According to Economic Times, OAC will initially generate gravity equivalent to that of the Moon (1/6th of the Earth’s gravity) and eventually increase its level a bit closer to Mars or Earth. This means you’ll be able to walk, sleep, dine, and even have a massage as usual instead of hovering in the air like astronauts.

The adventure begins with guests having to depart Earth through a spacecraft that’ll take them to a zero-gravity docking hub. From there, elevators will lift them to their living quarters, or a group of 24 “habitation modules” arranged around the spinning ring of the orbital resort.

Forget cramped capsules when you’re in Voyager Station. The hotel spans 125,000 square feet and can house around 280 guests and 112 crew members. It takes luxury travel to a whole new level, with its upscale amenities like luxury villas, restaurant, bar, gym, spa, retail stores, cinema, and event concert venue. Expect a five-star hotel experience, but in low Earth orbit.

This groundbreaking facility also promises to be as safe as it is luxurious. Economic Times reported that OAC is developing smaller prototypes, such as the Gravity Ring and Pioneer Station, to test the rotating design and related subsystems the Voyager Station will be built with.

There is no word yet on how much a stay in this ultra-modern resort will cost. However, its cutting-edge technology and extravagant amenities suggest that this experience is only tailored for the ultra-wealthy adventurer. Still, it brings that hope that having a vacation in outer space is more than just a dream after all.
