Louis Vuitton x Murakami Chapter 3 brings the house’s Spring/Summer 2005 collection back to life in classic pieces energized with the boldness, warmth, and charm of cherries.
Louis Vuitton’s iconic collaboration with Takashi Murakami is back. It’s psychedelic, charming, and, this time, it’s bursting with sweet whimsy.
The third and final chapter in the re-edition of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collab is officially on the way and, like the first two installments in the collection, puts a fresh and juicy spin on the same “Cerises” or “cherry” collection released 20 years ago.
The Louis Vuitton x Murakami re-edition collection features over 200 pieces jazzed up with Murakami’s “Superflat” style. Must-haves range from psychedelic city bags to playful accessories like scarves, sunglasses, perfume bottles, bag charms, and even a skateboard. It was designed to roll out in three drops, with the first two hitting shelves and the maison’s online store in January and March.
The global rollout kicked off with the iconic “Multicolore Monogram” motif, a signature of the 2003 collab, which focuses on Murakami’s vibrant reinterpretation of LV’s Monogram in 33 different colors. The iconic pattern adds pops of life and color to the French label’s emblematic bags, like the Speedy, Alma, and Keepall, as well as luggage, trunks, sneakers, and other accessories.

Chapter 2, meanwhile, brought Japan’s cherry blossoms to LV fans worldwide, with its collection of handbags, shoes, accessories, and ready-to-wear pieces celebrating the country’s sakura season. The collection uses an aesthetic pink palette and Murakami’s “smiling” pink florals to perk up 40 of the house’s creations, from leather bags, accessories, and footwear, to a made-to-order trunk.

Like the first two drops of the capsule, Louis Vuitton x Murakami Chapter 3 brings the house’s Spring/Summer 2005 collection back to life in classic pieces energized with the boldness, warmth, and sophistication of cherries. Energetic and empowering, the new collection uses a striking red palette and Murakami’s “superflat” interpretation of the fruit to perk up a robust selection of handbags, shoes, accessories, and other ready-to-wear items.

Designed to be a statement piece in any outfit, each item in the capsule features intense red cherries—sometimes smiling, sometimes astonished—that brighten up the century-old Monogram canvas. Bright round cherries take over handbags such as the Speedy, Alma, and Capucines, everyday totes like the OnTheGo, and travel companions like the Keepall.

Unlike the collection’s first two drops, the Louis Vuitton x Murakami Cerises collection has denim bags to buck up the mix. Cherries are emblazoned on top of denim handbags like the Speedy, Sunset, and Neverfull, as well as the Venice backpack, and Keepall duffle bag.

The bright and luscious collection is expected to be released mid-May this year, with pre-orders opened to VIPs last April 24, according to PurseBlog.
