The 2026 Venice Film Festival red carpet looks we love

The films, famous faces, and fashion keeping our eyes on the Lido.

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival runs from September 2 to 12 on the Lido, bringing together filmmakers, actors, and an audience ready to debate the year’s next big films. For those of us following from our phones, the arrivals and red carpets offer their own reasons to pay attention.

The films and famous faces on this year’s guest list

This year’s competition lineup includes Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine, starring John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, and Parker Posey, alongside Florian Zeller’s Bunker, which pairs Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem. Robert Pattinson takes on television host Chris Hansen in Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime, with Phoebe Bridgers making her acting debut. Pattinson and Bridgers appeared in Venice to discuss the film.

George Clooney and Ellen Burstyn are this year’s Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement honorees, while Maggie Gyllenhaal heads the main competition jury. Burstyn also appears alongside Dakota Johnson in Gyllenhaal’s Marilyn Monroe-inspired short, Flesh Impact. There’s plenty happening beyond the race for the festival’s top prize.

Oasis have joined the festivities, too. Liam and Noel Gallagher arrived for the world premiere of Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, a documentary following their 2025 reunion tour and famously complicated relationship. Their appearance adds a little rock-star energy to the week’s movie premieres.

Also in Venice is Filipina actress Liza Soberano, attending for the first time as a juror for the Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary, presented by the Artemis Rising Foundation. Her Venice wardrobe includes Georges Hobeika, Robert Wun, and Nicole + Felicia Couture, styled by Katie Qian. In her DSCENE interview, she shares the personal connection behind her butterfly-adorned Robert Wun dress, tracing it to a childhood love of butterflies and an admiration for Audrey Hepburn.

The Venice red carpet looks worth a closer look

With so many occasions to dress for, half the pleasure is seeing how each guest approaches the assignment. Our favorites are the ones that make us zoom in, and in my case, screenshot!
