Need someone to talk to? 7 mental health hotlines and support services every Filipino should know

From 24/7 crisis lines to counseling and psychosocial support, these services give Filipinos somewhere to turn when talking to someone cannot wait.

September is Suicide Prevention Month, putting a necessary spotlight on conversations that can be difficult to start but potentially lifesaving.

Mental health support can take many forms, but during a difficult moment, knowing exactly where to turn to matters. Whether you’re struggling yourself, worried about someone you love, or simply want to save these resources for when they might be needed, here are seven mental health hotlines and support services in the Philippines worth knowing:

National Center for Mental Health

The National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) operates one of the country’s primary 24/7 crisis hotlines, providing immediate assistance to people experiencing emotional distress, mental health emergencies, or suicidal thoughts.

24/7 Crisis Hotline:
1553: nationwide landline, toll-free
1800-1888-1553: Smart/TNT
0919-057-1553: Smart/TNT
0917-899-8727: Globe/TM
0966-351-4518: Globe/TM

In Touch Community Services

Sometimes, what you need most is simply someone prepared to listen. In Touch Community Services operates a free, anonymous, and confidential crisis line 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with trained responders available for immediate emotional support.

24/7 Crisis Line:
(02) 8893-7603
0919-056-0709: Smart
0917-800-1123: Globe
0917-108-5412: Globe

Beyond its crisis line, In Touch also offers professional counseling for children, teens, adults, couples, and families.

Philippine Mental Health Association

The Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) has been working in mental health advocacy, education, intervention, and professional services in the country since 1950. Its services include counseling and clinical intervention for people seeking professional mental health support.

MentalHealthPH

MentalHealthPH works to make mental health information and services easier for Filipinos to find. Its online directory brings together validated mental health facilities, hospitals, crisis hotlines, support groups, counseling services, and tele-mental health providers across the country.

For an immediate crisis, MentalHealthPH directs users to the DOH-NCMH 24/7 Crisis Hotline at 0917-899-8727. Its directory can also help people search for longer-term professional support according to their needs.

Ateneo Bulatao Center for Psychological Services

The Ateneo Bulatao Center for Psychological Services provides counseling, psychotherapy, and community-based mental health programs. Its Brief Psychological Services program also provides Filipino adults with free short-term online psychosocial support through one to two sessions.

The service is meant for psychological distress and is not an emergency or crisis hotline. For urgent concerns, the center advises contacting a 24/7 crisis line or proceeding to the nearest emergency room.

MindNation

MindNation provides online mental health and well-being services, including access to psychologists, well-being coaches, teletherapy, talks, and training. Its digital setup can make it an option for people who prefer seeking professional support remotely.

Unlike NCMH or In Touch, however, MindNation should not be treated as an emergency suicide hotline. It is better suited for accessing ongoing mental health and wellness support.

The number also handles other emergencies and concerns in Quezon City, making it one particularly useful contact for QC residents to keep saved.

Save the numbers before you need them

A mental health crisis does not always announce itself clearly. It can look like panic, hopelessness, isolation, overwhelming distress, or a friend suddenly saying something that makes you worry about their safety.

Saving even one or two of these numbers takes seconds. During Suicide Prevention Month—and even after September ends—that small step could make reaching for help easier at a moment when finding the words already feels hard.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911, contact the NCMH Crisis Hotline at 1553, or proceed to the nearest emergency department.
