The Peninsula Manila x Hello Kitty afternoon tea is the cutest collab we’ve seen this year

The Peninsula Manila celebrates Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary with a special afternoon tea set starting April 15.

As tall as five apples and as heavy as three, Hello Kitty is turning 50!

The Japanese symbol of cuteness, innocence, and kawaii that’s become a global cultural phenomenon, Sanrio’s Hello Kitty was created in 1974 and originally used in stationery and pencils. She’s described as a “bright little girl with a heart of gold. She loves to bake cookies and play the piano. She dreams of one day becoming a pianist or maybe even a poet. Her favorite food is apple pie made by her mother.”

Sanrio is the global lifestyle brand best known for Hello Kitty and home to many other beloved character brands such as My Melody, Kuromi, LittleTwinStars, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Bad Badtz-Maru, and Kerokerokeroppi. Sanrio was founded on the philosophy that a small gift can bring happiness and friendship to people of all ages.

Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea is offered at Peninsula Manila’s The Lobby from April 15 to May 15.

Since 1960, this philosophy has served as the inspiration to offer products, services, and activities that promote communication and inspire unique consumer experiences across the world. Today, Sanrio’s business extends into the entertainment industry with several content series, gaming offerings and theme parks, and an extensive product lineup available in over 130 countries.

Since her creation, the cute and cuddly character has been on TV, collaborated with fashion powerhouses and even cut an album, quickly becoming one of the buzziest names in the fashion industry.

According to the Sanrio website, “Hello Kitty was born in the suburbs of London. She lives with her parents and her twin sister Mimmy who is her best friend. Her hobbies include baking cookies and making new friends. As she always says, ‘You can never have too many friends!’”

Peninsula Manila Head Pastry Chef Annalyn Solano and her team were inspired by Hello Kitty’s signature red bow.

Well, she’s made another friend in the Philippines. In celebration of five decades of cuteness and friendship, The Peninsula Manila and Hello Kitty are collaborating on a Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea at The Lobby.
