Tennis may be the main event at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, but another competition is quietly commanding attention courtside: who came dressed to serve?
The 2026 US Open has already drawn a star-studded crowd to Queens, New York, where Fan Week festivities kicked off ahead of the tournament proper. With Serena Williams and Roger Federer returning to Arthur Ashe Stadium and famous faces filling the stands, the first few days have delivered plenty of matches, mingling, and major fashion moments.
Although tennis whites remain a reliable reference, this year’s celebrity spectators aren’t sticking to a single style playbook. Black dresses are meeting pleated minis, punchy pumps are pairing with prints, and polished pieces are proving that game-time fashion can stretch beyond polos.
Kaia Gerber: Black, but far from basic
Kaia Gerber made perhaps the clearest case for skipping tenniscore altogether. For the August 25 “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York” exhibition, the model and actor wore a fitted black midi dress by Ukrainian designer Yana Matkivski, featuring a V-neckline, low scoop back, and streamlined silhouette. She kept the palette sleek with black Le Silla mules and oversized sunglasses, then broke up the black with a tiger-print Fendi Baguette and a gold Panthère de Cartier watch.
Tinashe: Tennis whites with a twist
Tinashe took the opposite route, tapping directly into tennis whites while giving them a decidedly dressier spin. The singer stepped onto the blue carpet in a white Theophilio ensemble, pairing an embellished top with a coordinating mini. White wedges continued the monochromatic moment, while sculptural earrings and a silver pendant supplied the shine. It’s sporty, sparkly, and stadium-ready without looking like she borrowed an actual match kit.
Remy Ma: Pleats meet plenty of polish
Remy Ma played closer to classic court codes, but with plenty of personality packed in. She complemented a pale tan crop top with a pleated mini skirt, then topped the look with a white Dior visor—a particularly playful nod to traditional tennis outing. Diamond jewelry brought the glamour, while Miu Miu gingham bow sandals made the sporty styling feel sweeter. Pleats, polish, and a little playfulness proved a winning combination.
Gayle King: Prints with a punch
Gayle King put pattern front and center in a sleeveless floral Yigal Azrouël dress, but it was her accessories that gave the outfit extra game. She carried a silver woven Balenciaga Bistro bag—its grid-like construction specifically fitting beside a tennis court—and punctuated the look with bright yellow pumps for a playful pop. Metallic bracelets completed an outfit that made print, texture, and color work together rather than compete.
Savannah Guthrie: Florals find their footing
Savannah Guthrie brought another burst of print to Arthur Ashe Stadium for Federer’s August 25 exhibition. The Today host attended with husband Mike Feldman in a floral Dolce & Gabbana dress and nude heels—a straightforward summer combination that felt fresh, feminine, and fitting for Fan Week. Gold jewelry added just enough gleam without fighting the busy botanical print.
