Dolce & Gabbana celebrates the ‘iconic and powerful’ Madonna with its spring-summer 2025 collection

Some say an icon has to be someone famous. Some think that all it takes is talent, fearlessness, and drive. For global luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana, there is no better definition of the word “icon” than American singer, songwriter, and actress Madonna.

Last Saturday, Sept. 21, the Italian luxury fashion house debuted its spring-summer 2025 collection which pays homage to Madonna’s 1990 Blonde Ambition tour and her wardrobe at that time by French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier.

From that year until today, Madonna continues to wear D&G and remains good friends with founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. This, in addition to being admired globally as the Queen of Pop, has inspired the renowned designers to create a collection after her.

“Madonna has always been our icon. It’s thanks to her that a lot of things in our lives change,” Dolce and Gabanna shared in the show notes sent to foreign press.

Known for being innovative in music production, songwriting, and visual presentation, Madonna made a dramatic entrance into Dolce & Gabanna’s show at Milan Fashion Week. The 66-year-old star was the last to arrive at the D&G headquarters dressed in a head-to-toe black lace ensemble from the brand’s fall-winter 24/25 collection. She was covered in a black Chantilly lace veil fastened by a gold and crystal crown on her head.

Madonna sat in the front row along with English model Naomi Campbell and Italian musician Victoria De Angelis. The Like a Virgin hitmaker received a standing ovation from the 1,000 people present at the show as she took her seat.

Titled “Italian Beauty,” the show saw 58 models descend from a penthouse-style staircase and sashay down the runway à la Madonna in her edgy ‘80s-inspired look. Each model donned ensembles that featured the aggressively feminine cone bra that Madonna wore during her 1990 tour. Completing the outfit were platinum pixie wigs with voluminous curls that models wore with a black headband.

The opening look was an ivory strapless satin dress that was given a Material Girl twist with its cone bra woven outside the dress. This was followed by other bustier dresses paired with oversized shawls or trench coats with luxury faux fur fabric.

The black and pinstripe tailoring featured in Madonna’s video for Vogue was likewise incorporated into the collection. It came in the form of suit coordinates with trailing suspenders, as well as corset tops paired with big pants.

They were joined by cropped jackets matched with pencil skirts, as well as pencil dresses with corset and suspender detailing. Floral prints, which came in a color scheme of black, nude, red, and white, further jazzed up the collection.

Each look was accented with towering sexy shoes, oversized dangling earrings, handbags, and clutches.

When the show ended, Dolce and Gabbana walked down the runway and greeted the star of the night, Madonna, with kisses. The Queen of Pop embraced them warmly as the crowd cheered hard and loud in the background.
