Coron, Boracay, and El Nido are among the world’s best beaches for 2026

Each offers a distinct kind of island escape: Coron’s underwater adventures, Boracay’s beach buzz, and El Nido’s secluded luxury.

The Philippines has once again made waves on the international travel scene with three of its most celebrated coastal destinations securing coveted spots among the world’s finest beaches.

In the 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, Coron claimed fourth place with a score of 93.32, followed by Boracay in eighth at 91.49 and El Nido in 10th at 91.27. The Philippines was the only country to secure three entries in the global top 15.

While all three destinations are renowned for crystalline waters and captivating coastlines, their appeal extends beyond picturesque panoramas. Each promises a different pace, personality, and perspective on paradise.

For travelers planning their next tropical retreat, here’s what makes these award-winning Philippine destinations worth discovering:

Coron, Palawan: For underwater adventures and unspoiled escapes

Global Rank #4

Coron is a destination best discovered beyond the beachfront. Its dramatic limestone cliffs, emerald lagoons, and exceptional diving sites create a compelling combination of adventure and tranquility.

Days here typically revolve around island-hopping excursions, snorkeling, and discovering natural landmarks such as Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon. Experienced divers can explore historic World War II shipwrecks beneath the surrounding waters, while travelers seeking quieter pleasures can enjoy private boat trips, secluded swimming spots, and spectacular sunsets.

The lifestyle is noticeably slower and more nature-centered than in the country’s livelier beach destinations. Accommodations range from modest island lodgings to exclusive resorts, making Coron equally appealing to adventurous couples and travelers pursuing privacy.

Boracay, Aklan: For beachfront buzz and barefoot luxury

Boracay remains the Philippines’ quintessential destination for travelers who want their seaside serenity accompanied by sophisticated stays, excellent dining, and an energetic social scene.

Its celebrated White Beach offers approximately four kilometers of powder-soft sand, complemented by beachfront restaurants, boutique accommodations, luxury resorts, and sunset sailing experiences.

The island’s distinct stations cater to different preferences. Station 1 is known for its upscale resorts and relatively spacious beachfront, Station 2 provides convenient access to dining and entertainment, while Station 3 offers a more relaxed atmosphere. Travelers seeking greater seclusion can explore Puka Shell Beach or the island’s quieter northern retreats.

Boracay’s lifestyle shifts effortlessly from leisurely mornings and afternoon water activities to sunset cocktails and lively evenings. Its combination of accessibility, amenities, and atmosphere makes it particularly attractive to groups, couples, and travelers who enjoy balancing relaxation with recreation.

El Nido offers a distinctly cinematic interpretation of tropical luxury, where towering limestone formations frame turquoise lagoons, hidden beaches, and picturesque island retreats.

Much of the experience unfolds across Bacuit Bay, where island-hopping excursions lead to Big Lagoon, Secret Lagoon, Seven Commandos Beach, and other extraordinary natural attractions. Kayaking, snorkeling, and private boat charters offer opportunities to appreciate the destination’s exceptional marine environment.

Its accommodations range from charming boutique properties to exclusive island resorts, catering to travelers who appreciate intimate experiences and personalized hospitality.

Compared with Boracay’s bustling beachfront, El Nido places greater emphasis on exploration, immersion, and escape. Visitors can spend their mornings discovering hidden coves before returning to beachfront dining, wellness experiences, or quiet evenings overlooking the bay.
