Dior F/W 2025 collection is a time-travel capsule

Maria Grazia Chiuri went beyond theatrics.

Inspired by Orlando, Virginia Woolf’s 1928 gender-defying, time-traveling novel, Chiuri’s show at the Jardin des Tuileries blended past and present, mixing classic designs with modern touches. Chiuri revisited Dior’s past while exploring new ways to dress today.

The show started with a model sitting alone on a swing with “Once Upon a Time” written on it, wearing a high-neck dress with tulle ruffles. The stage, shaped like a square, came to life with dramatic effects—a flying pterodactyl, falling meteorites, and shifting scenes of fire, ice, and steam. The visuals contrasting with the structured outfits.

Chiuri’s collection showed Dior’s evolution, from its early days to now. She mixed old and new styles, proving that fashion is always changing. Soft lace dresses paired with strong leather and velvet jackets balanced femininity and structure. Inspired by the novel, ruffled collars appeared throughout, adding a delicate touch.

Models wore zip-up corsets over white collared shirts, trench coats, warm jackets, and the return of John Galliano’s J’Adore Dior t-shirts. Cropped pants, berets, and frilly collars tied everything together, showing how fashion can mix past and present.

Chiuri’s tenure at Dior has spanned nearly a decade, a rare feat in today’s fashion cycle. With ongoing speculation about creative director reshuffles across major fashion houses, this collection felt like a statement. If it is her last, then we can say it’s a powerful one.
