Milan Fashion Week is here! Your ultimate guide to Italy’s most stylish week

MFW is running a day longer this season—which means extra doses of glamour, creativity and, of course, fashion.

First it was New York City. Then off we went to London. And now, as we head into the final stretch of September, we find ourselves in Milan for stop three of this season’s fashion week series.

A slight change in schedule saw the Milan Fashion Week running a day longer this season, part of a revamping of the fashion month schedule led by Camera della Moda, the event’s organizing body, as reported on Wallpaper*. Nobody’s complaining because that only means more fashion for all of us!

Over seven days, from September 17 to September 23, expect 56 physical shows and 8 digital ones, with each brand presenting its spring/summer 2025 collections.

What to expect—and what not to

Fendi was the curtain opener of Milan Fashion Week on the afternoon of Sept. 17 (Milan time). With its Via Solari headquarters still undergoing renovations, the luxury fashion house brought its show to the city’s outskirts. Kim Jones’ collection marked the beginning of Fendi’s centenary year (the brand was founded in 1925 as a leather goods manufacturer), with the British designer drawing inspiration from the house’s first decade.

The result is a collection that was inspired by the liberated modernity of the 1920s through diaphanous, flapper-inspired dresses, sheer layers, and crystal embellishments. A bit jarring, though, was the contrast between the old-world elegance of the collection set against the sci-fi/clinical vibe of the runway set.

Hot on the heels of Fendi was Marni. The brand’s show came after a much lauded world tour that included stops in New York and Tokyo. Marni’s creative director Francesco Risso opted to go back to Milan last season, with the designer choosing to stay in the brand’s home city for spring/summer 2025.

And because it’s Milano, where creativity knows no bounds and looking good is part of the Milanese’s DNA, expect only the biggest shows from iconic Italian brands such as Gucci, Versace, Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Bottega Veneta and Prada. Speaking of Prada, we should expect a continuation of the house’s ‘fairytale ravescape’ set which it unveiled in its menswear show in June.

Closing Milan Fashion Week is Chinese designer and Central Saint Martins graduate Susan Fang who will present her latest collection with the support of Dolce & Gabbana on Sept. 22. Other labels supported by D&G are Chiccomao, Federico Cina, and Phan Dang Hoang. Jewelry and fashion brand Defaience by Nicola Bacchilega is also on-schedule for the digital fashion show calendar.

These iconic brands and exciting fresh talents must have gotten you excited for sure. There are, however, some big-name no-shows, such as Tom Ford, whose new creative director Haider Ackermann will debut next year. Giorgio Armani, too, is not part of the Milan Fashion Week roster. The Milan-based brand will have a show in New York in October which is part of the eponymous designer’s 90th birthday celebrations.

MSGM, an Italian fashion brand founded by Massimo Giorgetti in partnership with Paolini Group in 2009, is reported to have a more intimate presentation in its headquarters. Blumarine’s David Koma, meanwhile, will present his first collection next season.

I wonder what David Beckham and Anna Wintour are chatting about?

Normani and Shailene Woodley were spotted in the “very neutral” Fendi front row, while tennis star Taylor Fritz looked every inch like a model as he walked the runway for Boss. Also at the Boss show, David Beckham and Anna Wintour were seen getting all chatty.

Olivia Palermo and Jameela Jamil, meanwhile, were quite the stunners at the VOGUE Italia x MARTINI L’Aperitivo party.

In local show business, Marian Rivera has arrived in Milan for her international fashion week debut as the Philippine  representative of Kiko Milano. Fashion week regular Heart Evangelista has also given fans a peek into the show of Milan-based brand Jil Sander.
