Only a few will get their hands on these limited-edition dive watches dropping globally this June and July
Seiko released its first diver’s watch in 1965, built for tough conditions like cold, pressure, and deep water. It quickly became a trusted tool for divers, researchers, and explorers and marked the start of Seiko’s long history in underwater watchmaking. Sixty years later, the brand is celebrating that milestone with three new Prospex models that blend its classic design with modern updates.

Leading the collection is the limited-edition Prospex Marinemaster Professional SLA081, a new version of the Marinemaster. It takes cues from Seiko’s iconic diver designs from 1968 and 1975, but upgrades the build with a one-piece titanium case and a new movement inside. It’s made for serious depths, with water resistance up to 600 meters. The dial fades from dark blue to black, inspired by the deep sea, and features a textured finish that gives it extra depth and character. The movement runs for up to 72 hours, and the case is built to withstand pressure.

The other two models are more everyday-friendly but still rooted in Seiko’s dive watch history. The SPB511 has a silver dial that nods to the 1965 original, while the SPB509 comes in a classic navy blue, inspired by the 1968 model. Both are water-resistant up to 300 meters and powered by Seiko’s trusted 6R movements. One of them includes a GMT hand, so you can track a second time zone, which is totally handy for travel. They also come with improved clasps that are easy to adjust, even mid-dive or due to the weather.
One of the new watches will also be part of Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology’s (JAMSTEC) Arctic research program this year. JAMSTEC, Japan’s marine science agency, has partnered with Seiko for decades. Their watches have been tested on deep-sea missions since the 1980s and have performed well far beyond their official depth ratings even at over 3,000 meters below sea level.
The Marinemaster SLA081 will be released in July 2025, with only 600 units available worldwide. The SPB511 and SPB509 will arrive a month earlier, in June 2025, with 6,000 pieces each available at select Seiko boutiques and retail stores.
